Shawn Carroll was awarded the John Phillip Sousa Band Award at our Senior Recognition Concert on May 10, 2000. The John Phillip Sousa Band Award is awarded to the senior musician in the McKeesport Tiger Band who best shows the qualities of leadership, musical talent, and interest in music. McKeesport Area High School's Coordinating principal Joseph E. Catalina presented the award to Shawn.

This year a new award has been awarded to a senior member of the marching band, symphonic band, and colorguard. The award is given in the memory of Mrs. Carol Stipkovits, who was a dedicated patron of the McKeesport Tiger Band for a long time. Students must audition in order to be selected to receive the award. The 2000 Winners of the Carol Stipkovits Memorial Award include:
