Meaki and Kurana exchanged glances over their little brother's head, trying not to grin. Janak glared defiently, swinging to look at each of his siblings in turn, hands on hips. "I will become a dragonrider!" He said, pouting slightly.

Kurana snickered, but hastily covered her mouth when the little boy looked at her. "Of course you will, Janak," Meaki reassured, biting his bottom lip to keep from laughing. "That is, if a searchdragon ever comes here!" Meaki had to stop himself from glancing at his twin; he would laugh right in Janak's face if he did.

Janak looked suspiciously at him, and then peered over his shoulder at Kurana. "They will come! You'll see! They'll come looking for me!"

The girl snorted, pursing her lips in amusement. At Janak's expression, she laughed, ruffling his hair. "'Course they will, Nuk nuk."

Janak scowled. "Don't call me that!" He puffed out his chest proudly, beaming. "Call me J'nak! That's what I'm going to be, so you may as well use it now!"

Meaki turned away, covering his mouth with his hand to stop from laughing. Kurana felt no such restraint, and burst out laughing in front of her little brother. "Yeah, yeah. We get the idea."

The boy glanced at her sourly, deflated by her condescending tone. "I will!" He said a bit more weakly, looking towards Meaki hopefully for support.

The older boy's eyes danced, but he managed a solemn face. "Of course he will, Kurana. You doubted him for moment?"

Janak nodded eagerly, totally missing the irony in his older brothers voice. "Yeah! See!"

"Not for a minute," Kurana agreed easily, starting to stride out the door. "But while you two dream, I'll be over here studying! Mother is giving us a quiz on healing plants tomorrow, you know." She flashed them both a smile, and disappeared out the door.

The two males gazed after her for a while, and then followed their sister, muttering darkly about these 'quizzes' their mother decided to put them through.

"Here... there's this about numbweed..." Kurana muttered, more to herself than her brother. Janak had grown bored of their studying: his 'quizzes' weren't as hard anyway. Kurana would have given up long ago, but Meaki hadn't. So obviously she couldn't either!

Meaki raised his head vaguely, his eyes not straying from the thick hides he was reading. "Oh, I have numbweed her-"

"Kurana! Meaki!"

The twins snapped their heads up, both pursing their lips in annoyance that their work had been interrupted.

Janak came panting through the door, holding his chest as he gasped, but his eyes shone with delight. "They're here! The dragonriders! They've come for me! Like I-"

He was interrupted as both the 16-turn-olds raced in a mad dash past him, craning their necks out the doorway to try and see them. "No they're-" Kurana started, and then gave a sharp intake of breath. "OH!"

Janak nodded smugly, ducking under them and racing across to where the blue was landing. "See! I told you!"

Rolling their eyes, the twins followed at a more reasonable pace. They came to the bluerider, hunkered down next to Janak and murmuring to him quietly.

Grabbing her younger brother by the ear, Kurana pulled him away from the rider, despite Janak's protests. She looked shyly at the rider and his lifemate while Meaki talked to him.

"Good morn, bluerider. Mother and father are out in the pastures at the moment - one of the herdbeasts is having a calf. Are you here to hunt? There are some-"

Janak broke free from Kurana's hold, glaring at his sister and then starting to pull at Meaki's sleeve. "Meaki! He's here on Search, aren't you K'ral? Aren't you? He's been sent from Tripaldi Weyr," The little boy swelled his chest, glancing towards the bluerider. "He's come to Search me!"

Before Kurana could reprimand Janak for his remarks, K'ral laughed lightly, ruffly the boy's hair. "Well I would, son, but you're a bit young yet. When you're older be assured myself and Binerth here will come back for you!" With a last tossle of his hair, K'ral turned to the older two, lofting an eyebrow airily. "Whereas, you two..."

Meaki gaped, while Kurana just blinked once and stared. She was first to utter a word: "Huh?"

K'ral grinned at their expressions, and also Janak's, who was torn between being crestfallen for himself and jumping with delight for his siblings. "Yeah, that's right. If you accept, you've both been Searched for Tripaldi Weyr!"

The twins only looked at each other once, before they made their decision. "Of course!" The both cried simultaneously.
