ALCO MU TO SPUD

Before removing old truck, measure floor hight for later reference. Mark both center lines on floor with scriber or very fine marker. Disassemble and remove power truck and motor. A new mounting bar must be made from .025" x .5 flat brass cut to fit between shell sides. Holes are drilled and tapped at each end to match original mounting holes, taking into account that the original mounting holes might not align with truck center. New holes may be drilled in rails, if preferred. The center truck mounting hole is drilled to just clear top stud on Spud. By mounting bar on top of rails, screws are accessible for truck removal without car disassembly. Alternately the Spud Z bracket can be used for mounting.

Since the side frames do not have axle holes and the Spud axles extend, either axles must be shortened or axle holes must be drilled, similar to non-powered truck. The latter can help with alignment. One of the Spud side frame brackets is used for mounting.

Caution: Careful cutting is required to avoid damage to wheels and housing. Excessive pressure may bend parts, while heat may soften or melt plastic. Drilling may best be done by hand to avoid unsightly punch through on side frames.

Note: Adjust brightness and contrast for optimum viewing.
