Not big as in fat, anymore. The slimmed Sharon Cuneta and Judy Ann Santos finally have the chance to work together in a movie. "Magkapatid," the running title of the movie under Star Cinema, presents these big stars in fresh and very convincing roles as siblings. Being sexy, however, does not mean that Sharon and Juday will now show more flesh than they ever did in their past movies, if they had at all shown much of their body. This tandem has been exciting millions of fans of both stars. the Megastar and the Drama Princess are, indeed, two of our local stars who have the greatest number of followers. But some critics have been talking about these star's loss of appeal to the moviegoers nowadays, basing on the latest movies the two did. The Megastar's movie with Robin Padilla, "Pagdating ng Panahon," which was Viva Films' anniversary offering last November was said to be a flop. Sharon, in this movie, somewhat failed to sustain her "box-office queen" reputation. People who have seen the movie believe that Sharon's fat image pulled the movie's appeal down. Worse, the role Sharon played in "Pagdating" is not apt for her. As the common feedback says, Sharon is just too fat and old for the role. The Drama Princess, on the other hand, has been tagged as the new "flopsina queen." Her movie, "May Pag-ibig Pa Kaya" with Luis Alandy and Matet de Leon, adds to her list of flopped movies. She is even criticized by moviefans as a trying hard and false box-office queen. But both Sharon and Juday have no room now for any bitterness. They have finally gotten rid of their unwanted and ugly fats, which people seem to regard as a major factor for a star's "pagkalaos." About the threat of another bigger flop, both bank on their natural magnet to the Filipino people, especially the masses. And never to be underestimated, Star Cinema's promotional machinery.
