As of October 1,
2001 The Osceola County board of commissioners voted to not renew the
contract with Campbell City Volunteer Fire Department.
The
commissioners along with the Chief of Osceola County Fire Rescue, and the
County Manager wanted to make one unified department. Osceola County Fire
Rescue is now a combination department with all volunteer members serving
the county.
Campbell
City still exists as a not for profit organization, but no longer
participates in fire fighting activities. Some members have stayed on as
volunteers for Osceola County, while others have moved on to become paid
firefighters for this and other counties.
