The Campbell City Volunteer Fire Department was started in 1973 with approximately ten members and three trucks. The fist station was in Good Samaritan Village. During the latter part of the 1980's Campbell City Volunteer Fire Department moved their station and equipment to a small garage on Lime Street.

The Present Campbell City Volunteer Fire Station on Broad Street was built in 1989. At that time Osceola County took over fire-rescue administration and we became a combination paid/volunteer system. Campbell City Volunteer Fire Department is one of 10 volunteer departments in Osceola County.

Campbell City Fire District includes residential as well as industrial and commercial properties. Our calls include not only house fires, but medical emergencies, auto accidents, brush fires, plane crashes, train accidents, industrial accidents and hazardous materials incidents.

Our Department has 30 active members. All of our members come from different walks of life. We have teachers, Disney employees, laborers, electricians, carpenters, business managers, college students and many other diversified occupations among us. We all have one common goal in mind which is to help provide our community with the best emergency service possible. We give thousands of hours yearly to provide this service in addition to attending classes to maintain our skill levels. All of our membership are required to attend the following classes:

40 hour basic firefighter class
40 hour first responder class
EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operators Class)
Division of Forestry Wild land firefighting class

We also train our members in extrication using the jaws of life, ladder training, air pack exercises, smoke mazes, medical classes etc.

If we modestly examine the values upon which this great nation was founded, we realize that the spirit of volunteerism has played a vital role in our foundation and growth. Today, as before, Volunteer are a key element in our community. The Campbell City Volunteer Fire Department relies exclusively upon the the time given freely by it's volunteers to serve our community's needs. We are constantly searching for dedicated men and women to join our ranks.
