three brothers: Kjetil, Hakon, Gunvald and one sister Ingunn. Mortenīs
father Reidar, is a doctor and his mom Henny was a teacher.
As a child, Morten was always very self willed and very independient, often he disappear from home for hours on the end to the daydream. He used to collect butterflies, ordering them from as far away as Brasil. In his spare time nowadays, he prefers to tend orchids and he was the family baker, he used to provide his family, baking bread and that was for seven people.
Blue eyed Morten, was the second child born to the Harket family and was called Hakkbspetta by his friends for years (it is a norwegian name for
woodpecker) because it sounded like his surname.
Morten had piano lessons, when he was a child, but like many other people, he thought they were a bit restricting and he didnīt practise very much.
Morten realised, he wanted to be a singer, when his parents took him to a
brass band concert in Kongsberg. He was 4 years old and the conductor hoisted Morten on his shoulders and he joined in with the tunes squealing happily and leaping. In fact, Morten was so excited he wet the conductor.
- " I did it, I wet my pants all over the conductorīs neck " - (he laughs).
Mortenīs first love was his first grade teacher, in a interview he claimed that he still loves her in fact! Certainly she was a highlight of Mortenīs school memories since he always seemed to be getting scholded by one
teacher or other. He hated the injustice, he felt was being done him,
because the teachers didnīt always see what was really going on. Morten says he had a very hard time in school for years, he was beaten for other childs. When he grew older, Morten dreamed of being a rock star, he was in several bands like: Laelia, Anceps, and Souldier Blue a blues band (actually he doesnīt like blues) but A-HA was the only group that ever worked for him.
As Mags, he was employed at a mental hospital for a year, in order to get money for the band and being a pop star was always his goal.
One of his hobbies is the gardening and taking pictures all the time.
In february (11) 1989 he married with a swedish model, Camilla Malquist,
he knew her in Holand airport, they divorced in 1998. They have three children: Jakop (14 5 89); Jonathan (31 12 90); and the little Tomine (14 04 93) an with Ann Mette Unliend has the little Hennie, like her momīs
name (7 2 03). In his spare time Morten is an activist man, he works for Amnesty International. At the same time he has time to work in his solo proyects, he is a co-propietary of the MP3 Lycos in Norway. He made some campaignes against to the cigarrettes, and the torture in East Timor and Kosovo.
