Lets talk a little about what is needed to run the Flight sim itself with a good Frame rate.
FS 2000 and 2000 pro are very CPU hungry. Most of the work is done by the FPU Floating
Point Unit inside the CPU and tests have shown as of September that the Athlon K7 series
CPUs are the best for running FS 2000, due to their better FPU. In short, it crunches numbers faster.
The minimum specs listed on the Flight Simulator box are just that, If you try to run the software
on a machine that is close to the minimum. you will have to turn all the settings off in the
sim just so it will work a little. I am talking 5 Frames Per Sec. (slide show).
So here's my advise If you are running a computer with less than a 700 mhz CPU
Use FS 98 instead unless your going to upgrade computers soon.

          The test machine is a
K7 700 Mhz Athlon with 384 Meg of SDRAM
The graphics card is an Nvidia Geforce AGP 32 meg DDR RAM.
The Sound card is a Sound blaster live value.

With this system you should have no problems at all, the software installs and
runs like it should. After adding over 100 different planes and helicopters
and after installing new terrain mesh scenery over the entire USA and even
building scenery using Airport 2.6 on a couple of islands.
Frame rates are Between 15 and 150 in just one flight, that is an average
of 50 Frames per sec. or better and that's good enough for me.

Lets take a look at another plane.

here are two of the best WW2 U S Fighter Aircraft on the net.
