Mintzi

Mintzi is one of our daughter's two cats. She is very friendly but appears as a blur in most photographs. She and her adopted sister, Chivas are staying with us for a while...We think.

Both cats prefer to drink directly from the tap.

Mintzi was mistreated before Bonnie adopted her and as a result has some slightly odd personality characteristics. When bi-ped animals appear, she eats. For some reason, she seems to want people see her eat. Secondly, she walks with a strut.

Both cats reside exclusively in our cellar.  They have claws and are being kept separated from Ginny, Birdie, and our furniture.  Not to worry, they have lots of company and toys.

What they need is a scratching post.

Mintzi died at slightly less than 4 years of age September 9, 2001 probably from Feline Infectious Peritonitus. She began to throw up 4  days before she died and stopped eating and drinking the next day. She was taken to the vet that day. Deterioration was very rapid. She had fluid around her heart and lungs.

The origin of the disease is a puzzle as she and her sister have not been exposed to any other cats for at least 3 3/4 years before her death.

Mintzi was a great cat! Always well behaved and very friendly. She always insisted on eye contact and insisted on looking people directly in the face.

We feel particularly sad because she was so young and always seemed to be bullied by her sister; elbowed away from choice tidbits and personal attention. Rest in peace, Mintzi.
