-Born: January 21, 1835, in Paris (Fauquier County) Virginia.
-Graduated from Virginia Military Institute on July 5, 1858 where he was Captian of Cadets of Company B.
-Appointed Colonel of 38th Virginia on June 12, 1861.
-Killed leading 38th Virginia in Pickett's Charge, July 03, 1863
William George Cabaniss (photo post war) Captain, 38th Virginia Infantry
-Commissioned 1st Lieut. Co. K on July 2, 1861.
-Wounded in Action at Seven Pines.
-Promoted Capt. August 3, 1864.
-Wounded in action (severe jaw wound) at Bremuda Hundred August 25, 1864.
-retired by Medical Examining Board December 17,1864

-VMI class of 1862.
-Commissioned 1st Lieut. Co. B on July 7, 1861; promoted Capt. December 10, 1862.

-Wounded in action (finger amputated and thigh wound) Battle of Chester Station on May 10, 1864.
-Surrendered Appomattox April 9, 1865.
