PEO Council must listen to members and chapters in determining policy especially related to fee increases and unbridled spending outside the regulatory scope of the profession. The Council and Staff should be fully accountable to members on the spending of members' equity and should conduct their affairs within balanced budgets defensible to members. A $ 6.3 million dollar spending spree between 2001 - 2003, in transfer money to the OSPE and new senior Staff hiring without a properly thought-out plan, generated a steep and unjustifiably high rate of annual members fee increase.
I will focus on PEO's accountability to members in increasing the role of members in the decision making process in the PEO, enhancing Chapter participation in PEO’s regulatory activities.
Clearly define the role of Chapters in the context of the distinct regulatory responsibilities of PEO in assuring a mechanism to allow a wider member participation in the PEO's policy making process
Involve the Chapters in PEO regulatory affairs in ensuring members are heard on crucial decisions such as membership fees and a balanced budget.
Bring the voice of the Chapters to the Council and keep the membership informed of Council’s deliberations in a timely manner. I will ask for prompt postings of decision summaries on PEO’s website and frequent membership briefings through face-to-face meetings and e-mail.
