Rules and Regulations

Penalties:

Minor Penalties

Holding (two minutes): Impeding someones progress by holding a person or chair.

Hooking (two minutes): With stick around a person, or chair to hold player back. Hooking the shaft of a players stickwill result in a penalty.

Interference (two minutes): Making contact with someone who does not have possession of the ball. Or Intentionally preventing a player who does not have possession of the ball from taking part in the play.

In the Crease (two minutes): No player except the goalie is allowed to stop in the crease at any time. A defencive player may enter the crease in one continual motion to clear a loose ball from the crease but, he/she may not stop in the crease. If he/she does stop in the crease, a two minute penalty will be called. An ofensive player cannot, at any time, have any part of their wheelchair in the oppositions crease. It is not a penalty for the offensive players stick to be in the crease.

Bench Minor (2 minutes): Can be called against players or coaches for abuse against officials or other players, or for too many players on the floor.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct (two minutes): Swearing, arguing, or abusing other players, officials, or equipment. Referees will be allowed to use their discresion to call these penalties (i.e. screaming at or threatening another player, coach or at any officiating or timekeeping person) Note: Continued abuse will result in a player, coach, or spectator being ejected from teh gymnasium. A two minute penalty must still be served by another player from the same team. Play will not resume until the abusive person leaves the gymnasium. Note: The league will review the incident and may assign additional suspensions.

Boarding (two minutes): Recklessly riding a player into the boards with excess force. Note: A referee may eject this person from the game if he/she determines it was the players intention to hurt or injure the other player. A two minute penalty must still be served by another player from the same team.

Dangerous Driving (two minutes): Referee may cal a penalty if he/she deems a player to be driving dangerously or recklessly. Ramming (1st: two minutes, 2nd: 4 minutes, 3rd: two minute team penalty,ejection from game and a one game suspension, NOTE: the ejected player must leave the playing area): A player may not deliberately run into (ram) another player with his/her wheelchair. A player may only ride another player off.

Charging (1st: two minutes, 2nd: 4 minutes, 3rd: two minute team penalty,ejection from game and a one game suspension, NOTE: the ejected player must leave the playing area): Deliberately hitting someone with a run of more than two wheelchair lengths.

High Sticking (1st: two minutes, 2nd: 4 minutes, 3rd: two minute team penalty, ejection from game and a one game suspension, NOTE: the ejected player must leave the playing area): No player shall purposely raise their wrist above their shoulder, if contact is made by the stick with another player above the defined hieght a penalty may be given. If three shots are taken where the wrist comes above the shoulder and no contact is made with another player a two minute penalty will be given.
