| "Jun-chan's Way" by the Gaijin Trio |
| During a Japanese wedding reception, it is common for friends and family to give speeches, sing songs, perform skits, and otherwise entertain the reception and to demonstrate their feelings for the newlyweds. For Junko and Taka's wedding, my friends (John Deloche and Andrew Van Der Laan) and I were stymied for days trying to figure out just what we could do that the (nearly) all Japanese crowd could understand. Our solution was to form The Gaijin Trio and rework one of Frank's classics, and a Japanese favorite. As rehearsed and reworked during an all-night Karaoke session the night before the wedding, here is Jun-chan's Way: |

And now, the start is here Junko and Taka have said their vows Their friends, all gathered here Should know her story, we'll tell it now She's a Nintendo queen She lives for Final Fantasy But more, much more than this, She did it her way Regrets, she's had a few And there are some, we'll have to mention She loves Winnie the Pooh And worries us with the obsession She saw each Disney Movie Walked to Tokyo Disneyland, along the highway But more, much more than this She did it her way Yes, there were times, when things got messy We had to read all her Shakespeare essays She studied hard, the nights were long Then she sang Madonna Karaoke songs She faced it all and she stood tall And did it her way We all knew, that she loved fireman The movie Backdraft, would have her swooning She watched it countless times We found it all so amusing Jun-chan's our dear sweet friend And may we say -- not in a shy way She really knows how to chug a beer She did it her way! And how is Jun-chan, what has she got? She has a man, she loves alot Taka, the stud, has won her heart Together now, their journey starts It's great to see them so happy They'll do it their way! |
