Minty giggles. "You can probably tell that I'm not the most normal pony in the herd," she
confesses. "I have very strong opinions about certain trivial things, and I tend to voice
those opinions. Some ponies consider me a little obsessive. I am, but I
prefer to think of it as, um, different and creative. So, come visit me now in my Hall of
Obsession." You follow her across the clover field to what seems like a normal enough building.
It looks like it could be a library, or a very small museum. Minty pulls open the doors, and
you follow her inside.
The building is a museum of sorts; there are many objects and pictures on display. However,
it is not a normal museum by any means.
"You may have visited the original Hall of Obsession, which has been closed for quite awhile
now," Lady Minty quickly notes. "I got rather bored of that version of the Hall, because
it frankly didn't leave me much room for renovation and change. With the Hall of Obsession
Version 2.0" -- here Minty giggles at the title -- "I plan to change the exhibits, or else
add more exhibits and rooms, as time goes on. So there will always be something to see,
and a reason to check back. Hopefully, I'll have these changes ready every few months, as
I find new obsessions and have time to write up the old ones."
Then it is time to view the opening exhibits at the all-new Hall of Obsession.
Minty grins as she leads you to the first item, a large
photograph. "This," she says impressively, "is Brad Pitt. He's an actor; you've probably heard
of him, but then again, some people haven't. I've been a fan of Brad's work for years. He's a
wonderful actor. And he's not bad to look at, either," she adds, never removing her eyes
from the photo.
"I just love Brad movies," Minty continues after a moment. "My all-time favorite movie
ever in the world is Meet Joe Black. Here's a gorgeous picture from that movie of Brad and his
co-star Claire Forlani, sent to me for my birthday by Lady NorthStar:
"Another of my favorite Brad movies is Fight Club. This movie just cracks me up!
It's a very dark movie, and not for baby ponies... But I find it hilarious! Here's a picture
of Brad from Fight Club, as his character, Tyler Durden:
When she's finished admiring Brad, Minty's face takes on a more serious expression.

"Due to recent events in Brad's life," she says, "I feel compelled to add this thought: although
I call this place my Hall of Obsession, this entire page is all in good fun. I'm not a crazy
psycho fan, okay? In fact, it makes me ill to hear about what some celebrities have to go
through when dealing with their weirder fans. Due to the Fields being an overall child-friendly
site, I'll have to keep my thoughts about stalkers (and about Brad's nasty stalker in particular)
to myself," Minty growls. "All
I hope is that Brad, and other harassed celebrities, realize that they still have plenty
of sane and responsible fans out there." Then the two of you move onto the next exhibit...
...Which is a television. "No, I'm not obsessed with TV,"
Minty says. "But I am quite attached to my soap operas." She winks. "Oh, I know, I know.
Soaps are mindless, vapid excuses for entertainment that only idiots can stand to watch,
right?" She waves the thought away with her hoof. "Forget that! Soaps are fun to watch, and
they're easy to get hooked on. Especially for someone like me. After all, you should
expect the curator of the Hall of Obsession to be easily hooked, shouldn't you?"
"I watch two soap operas -- The Young & the Restless and Passions. They're
at the opposite ends of the soap spectrum, really. Y&R deals with corporate issues and
more realistic problems. Well, realistic for a soap, anyway! Passions, on the other
hoof, is full of really cheesy magic, and its storylines are so far-out and goofy that
it's impossible to take too seriously. I like that contrast. And, say what you will about
soaps, but they are a fun diversion. I usually have classes or something else to
do during the day, so I just tape my soaps and watch them at night." Minty smiles.
"Now, being as big a soap fan as I am, you'd expect me to have certain favorites on each show,
right? Well, of course I do! Let's start with Y&R."
Next to the television is what looks like a small black and white publicity photo. Minty
picks it up and shows it to you. "This is Christian LeBlanc, who plays Michael Baldwin, my
absolute favorite character. Mikey is one of the villains of the show, an evil lawyer.
Christian is a great actor, and he's also an artist. His work has been featured on the show,
and he's also working on illustrating a children's book, which I cannot wait to see."
Then Minty points to a sign on the wall.
"As for Passions, my favorite characters are Ethan and Theresa, played by Travis Schultt and
Lindsey Korman. On Passions, Theresa is the daughter of the housekeeper for the powerful
Crane family, of which Ethan is a member. Theresa is a daydreamer and a strong believer in
fate, and she has been in love with Ethan from afar for years. Now Ethan is getting ready
to marry nasty old Gwen Hotchkiss" -- Minty pretends to gag -- "and Theresa is trying
to get him to realize that it's really her that he loves, and not Gwen." Minty sighs.
"I'm just a sucker for fate and romance. I sure hope Theresa gets her man!"
"Well, those are the only major exhibits I have set up at this time," Lady Minty admits.
"Running all of the Fields doesn't leave me much time for being a curator. But there is
still more to look at, if you're not already bored of my obsessions." She smiles wryly
and points to a chalkboard on the wall, which has obviously been scribbled on and erased
many times. "Here's where I keep track of my short-term obsessions," Minty explains. "I
don't just go through big obsessions, you know! I go through little obsessions, kind of
an Obsession-of-the-Month deal, with songs and commercials and stuff. Yes, I even obsess
over commercials!" she repeats when she sees your unbelieving expression.
Here's what's on the chalkboard at the moment:
- Favorite CD for driving to: The Fight Club soundtrack, followed closely by the
soundtrack to Anastasia, When the Pawn... by Fiona Apple, and just about
any CD by the Smashing Pumpkins
- Favorite music video: None at the moment; I haven't watched many lately...
- Favorite book: Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte -- I love Heathcliff!!!
- Favorite movie: Meet Joe Black (as pointed out by the Brad exhibit)
- Favorite (non-soap) TV show: Um... Ally McBeal, I guess. I also like Felicity
somewhat. And currently, I can't miss an episode of Survivor.
- Current MLP I'm obsessing over trying to get: Ice Crystal, please please?
"And of course," Minty continues as the two of you stroll through the Hall, "my greatest
lifelong obsession is collecting My Little Ponies. There's no exhibit on them in here
because I consider all of CloverFlower Fields to be my tribute to MLPs." Then she begins
pointing out some of her other obsessions, but you are no longer paying attention. You've
noticed another room at the back of the hall. The room is dark and mysterious-looking. You
ask Minty what is kept in there.
"Oh, you don't want to go in there," Minty responds quickly. "That's the Warehouse of Former
Obsessions. It's where I store the exhibits of past obsessions that I've grown out of or
away from. It's terribly frightening." Then she starts rattling on again, saying something
about VW Beetles. Silently, you sneak away into the shadows of the Warehouse of Former Obsessions.
It is so dark in the Warehouse that you can just barely make out the objects and pictures
kept there. You wait a moment, letting your eyes adjust to the dimness. Then you begin to
poke around. The first object you come across is what appears to be a futuristic, squid-shaped
submarine. A sign in front of it reads seaQuest DSV. You shrug and continue on. You
pass a huge collection of ceramic pigs. Strange. Then you spot an old poster, covered in a
layer of dust. Carefully you wipe the dust away, and find yourself face to face with the
New Kids on the Block. This is too much! You scream and run out of the Warehouse and back
to Minty.
"So, you found the New Kids, did you?" she asks with a smirk. "Maybe next time you'll
listen when I say something is terribly frightening. Anyway, that's the end of the tour.
There are so many more obsessions I need to add here, but I just haven't had the time yet." The two of
you leave the Hall of Obsession, and Minty closes the door snugly behind you. Before she does,
however, you manage to catch a glimpse of a small sign you hadn't noticed before. "Coming soon
to the Hall of Obsession," it reads, "Noel Crane from Felicity! And Freddie Prinze Jr!
And Psyduck! And the Smashing Pumpkins! And The Little Mermaid! And cute animated guys! Check back in the months to
come for new exhibits!"
Minty has to be the strangest little green pony you've ever met in your entire life... ;)
