Business and economics are becomming increasingly quantitative and are in need of students who can analyze problems analytically. For that reason, students are advised to take a solid course in calculus to develop these skills. One course in calculus will not turn a student into an expert, but will aid the student into developing analytical skills that will will be useful in his or her chosen profession. Calculus is the study of motion and change. The course is intended primarily for students in business and economics, and topics include derivatives and integrals of algebraic, logarithmic, and exponential functions, and applications to business and economics. Typical applications are marginal analysis, optimal pricing, supply and demand models, and Lorenz inequality curves. Prerequisite Adequate performance on a qualifying examination, or a grade of C or better in MAT 111 or MAT 122.
