The Graphic Arts/Computer
Graphpics curriculum provides students with creative design concepts and
preparation for career opportunities in layout illustration, computer
graphics, publication,advertising, marketing, or any field involving graphic
suppliers.
Graphic arts is an
excellent career for those hwo want practical application for fine art
skills and for whose who wannt to start their own business. There is an
excellent job market for well-trained graduates. The San Francisco Society
of Communication Arts projects that thenational need for designers by
1995 will be over 167,000. The publication, "The Futurists" states that
in 1984, 55% of workers were in information industries and by the year
2000, over 80% of the work force will lbe information workers. A list
of 10 top paying carrers complied by "New Woman" magazine includes commercial
artist/ grahpic designers. The magzine says the job market outlook is
excellent, "the advertising and desitn business isexpected to expand at
least as fast as the average occupation" in the next decade.
