ISRAELI PREMIER LEAGUE, 2007-08 -
THE STATISTICS

Many summaries have been made about the wonderful Israeli League of 2007-08, both official and unofficial. One of the ways to sum up the season, though undoubtedly not complete and perfect, is to look upon the bare facts. Who was the best, who played well both home and away, who scored most, etc. I tried to make these summaries as short and interesting as possible, to touch every relevant and interesting point that can explain the relegation or the great success. Unfortunately, as this year I spent large parts of time in Germany, and therefore was away from the real Israeli action, the summaries lack the certain information (keepers, goal passes, the best, etc.) they possessed in the last years; still, I think it's better to have at least something than nothing at all. So, don't judge me too severely, would you??

NOTE: I would like to thank my foreign subscribers who fixed my spelling in some of the foreign names. Here I'll try to bring the names of the foreign players in the most correct spelling possible.

    BEITAR JERUSALEM is the Israeli Cup Holder for the season of 2007-08.

THE BIGGEST VICTORY: 5:0 over SC Ashdod, H, Week 05 (Round 1).

THE BIGGEST LOSS:     1:3 to Hapoel Tel-Aviv, A, Week 27 (Round 3).

THE BEST GOALS:
* Michael Zandberg, 2:0 vs Bnei-Yehuda Tel-Aviv (3:0), Week 01 (Round 1).
  -----------------------------------------------------------------------
  An unexpected shot from a left wing and a very narrow angle, catching Dele
  Aiyenugba off-guard.

* Aviram Bruchian, 2:0 vs SC Ashdod (5:0), Week 05 (Round 1).
  -----------------------------------------------------------
  A clinical finish of Aviram Bruchian would not have deserved the inclusion
  into the list of the beautiful goals; however, the magnificent heel assist
  of Barak Itzhaki who just ran away from the ambush of 2 defenders was the
  action that made a difference.

* Toto Tamuz, 3:0 vs Hapoel Kefar-Saba (4:0), Week 11 (Round 1).
  --------------------------------------------------------------
  A brilliant action of the Israeli international forward, who got the ball
  with the back to the net, stopped it on the chest, turned around, ran for
  2 steps and unleashed a vicious shot from 20 meters under the left crossbar
  of Ohad Levite.

* Gal Alberman, 2:0 vs Hapoel Kiryat-Shmona (3:0), Week 20 (Round 2).
  -------------------------------------------------------------------
  Beitar stroke again in the injury time of the 1st half, and what a strike
  it was! Marcus Romolo sent a ball into the box, and Gal Alberman got there
  and, pressed by two defenders, still released a powerful shot with an
  external side of his right boot, right under the left crossbar of the
  stranded Dani Amos. A truly magnificent effort!

* Idan Tal, 3:0 vs Maccabee Petakh-Tikwa (4:0), Week 24 (Round 3).
  ----------------------------------------------------------------
  A magnificent goal of will and technics. Idan Tal collected the ball some
  40 meters from the net, succeeded somehow to run away from Amar and Dirceu
  without losing the ball, and then released a powerful shot from 25 meters
  under the right crossbar of Ohad Cohen.

* Derek Boateng, 1:0 vs Hapoel Kefar-Saba (4:0), Week 25 (Round 1).
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
  The game of soccer provides some great defensive blunders once in a while -
  but it is also an art to use them to your advantage. To do so in a style of
  Derek Boateng is a virtuosity. A misguided attempt of Avi Cnaffo to clear
  the ball from his box only highlighted the mistaken position of Ohad Levite
  who wandered through his box away from the goal - but no one could really
  anticipate that Boateng, even recognizing the opportunity, would connect to
  the ball near the box corner and send it with such an impossible might and
  precision under the opposite crossbar. An effort of an absolute world class!

* Michael Zandberg, 1:0 vs Hapoel Tel-Aviv (1:3), Week 27 (Round 3).
  ------------------------------------------------------------------
  The opener of the game didn't let one guess Beitar would be the defeated
  side in this entertaining game. Michael Zandberg got a great ball from Idan
  Tal, penetrated into the box and from its corner sent a precise and mighty
  diagonal ball at half a height over the flying Vincent Enyeama.

THE BEST PLAYER: Gal Alberman, midfielder.

* 1/ 2.  Beitar Jerusalem          - 0:1 AET.

THE BIGGEST VICTORY: 6:1 over SC Ashdod, A, Week 04 (Round 1).

THE BIGGEST LOSS: 0:3 to Beitar Jerusalem, A, Week 31 (Round 3).

THE BEST GOALS:
* Dedi Ben-Dayan, 1:1 vs Maccabee Haifa (2:1), Week 07 (Round 1).
  ---------------------------------------------------------------
  An effort somewhat reminiscent of the famous Haim Revivo's winner against
  Liverpool in 1998. Ben-Dayan, getting a ball at the left wing, misled one
  defender, cut into the center, misled yet another defender, entered the box
  and sent a precise ball between the fence of legs that was perhaps deflected
  by Georges Ba and misled Nir Davidovich.

* Ihiel Tsagai, 1:0 vs Hapoel Kefar-Saba (2:1), Week 20 (Round 2).
  ----------------------------------------------------------------
  Netanya wasn't quite bright in this game till the fresh substitute Ihiel
  Tsagai opened the score with his first touch (!), expertly connecting to
  the wide ball of Dele Yampolski and finishing with a clinical flat diagonal
  volley from 12 meters to the right corner of Ohad Levite.

* Itai Schechter, 1:0 vs Hapoel Tel-Aviv (3:0), Week 28 (Round 3).
  ----------------------------------------------------------------
  Sometimes a bold decision turns out to be a spectacular successful effort.
  Such was the case of Itai Schechter's opener in this game. Finding himself
  with a ball some 30 meters from the net and very close to the right field
  border, he decided to test the alertness of Vincent Enyeama in Hapoel Tel-
  Aviv's net - and the arched ball bypassed a somewhat surprised keeper and
  landed exactly under his right crossbar. What a goal!

* Francis Kioyo, 2:1 vs Bnei-Yehuda Tel-Aviv (3:2), Week 32 (Round 3).
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  A magnificent effort of this big forward of Maccabee Netanya with a lot of
  Bundesliga experience, who got a ball with his back to the goal, stopped
  it on his chest, raised the ball to mislead one defender and then turned
  around and shot from 18 meters between 2 other defenders into the low right
  corner of the helpless Dele Aiyenugba.

THE BEST PLAYER: Liran Strauber, keeper.

SENT OFF THIS YEAR ( 4):
  Jero Bello (Nigeria), Yossi Dora, Abbas Suan, Guy Tsarfati.

ACTIVE PLAYERS IN NATIONAL TEAMS:
* Dani Amos, Yuval Avidor - Israel, Olympic.

THE CUP ROAD:
* 1/16.  SC Ashdod                - 2:0 (Ofori-Quaye, Guel).
* 1/ 8.  Ironi Kiryat-Ata         - 2:1 (Hassarmeh, Tsarfati pen).
* 1/ 4.  Beitar/Shimshon Tel-Aviv - 1:2 (Avidor).

THE BIGGEST VICTORY: 3:0 over Maccabee Herzliya, H, Week 01 (Round 1).

THE BIGGEST LOSS: 0:3 to Beitar Jerusalem, H, Week 20 (Round 2).

THE BEST GOALS:
* Emmanuel Amangoah, 1:0 vs SC Ashdod (2:1), Week 03 (Round 1).
  -------------------------------------------------------------
  It's hard to imagine that Emmanuel Amangoah truly wanted to score this goal
  and not to make a pass into the box - but the result speaks for itself.
  Having gotten a ball from Guy Tsarfati in the Ashdodian box, Amangoah
  raised it to the center with his left without stopping - and it stopped
  only at the far post of Sammy Adjei, from where it slowly rolled in.

* Abbas Suan, 1:1 vs Maccabee Petakh-Tikwa (2:1), Week 15 (Round 2).
  ------------------------------------------------------------------
  The finest hour in Abbas Suan's soccer career came on March 26th, 2005,
  when, watched by the whole football world, he finished in the injury time a
  combination of Yossi Benayoun and Yaniv Katan with a superb equalizer past
  Shay Given, 1:1 for Israel of Avraham Grant against Ireland. One of the
  frustrated Irish players uttered after the game: "This was a lucky shot, he
  wouldn't do it again for the next 20 years". In fact, it took Abbas Suan
  less than 3 years to produce a very similar feat. This time it was Barak
  Bachar who raised the ball into the box, Wiam Amasha rolled it back, and
  Suan waited on the box line to shoot a flat and precise bomb past the
  diving Ohad Cohen, kissing his right post and going in.

* Yuval Avidor, 2:1 vs Maccabee Tel-Aviv (2:2), Week 16 (Round 2).
  ----------------------------------------------------------------
  The game was to finish in a well-fought draw, but 8 minutes from the end
  Kiryat-Shmona temporarily turned the score upside down, taking a lead. This
  happened after a bad header clearance of Yuval Shpungin, to which Yuval
  Avidor reacted with a perfectly timed volley from 14 meters to the left
  corner of Jevric at half a height.

* Guy Tsarfati, 1:0 vs Bnei-Yehuda Tel-Aviv (2:0), Week 23 (Round 3).
  -------------------------------------------------------------------
  A sublime effort of Guy Tsarfati resulted in a well-deserved opener. The
  veteran midfielder got a ball from Amir Nussbaum and from the edge of the
  box sent a brilliant ball under the far crossbar of Dele Aiyenugba. The
  Nigerian international keeper was helpless to rescue his team this time.

THE BEST PLAYER: Yuval Avidor, forward.

THE BIGGEST VICTORY:  4:0 over Maccabee Petakh-Tikwa, A, Week 27 (Round 3).

THE BIGGEST LOSS: 0:3 to Maccabee Herzliya, H, Week 18 (Round 2).

THE BEST GOALS:
* Ilya Yavruyan, 1:0 vs Maccabee Herzliya (1:0), Week 07 (Round 1).
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
  A fantastic effort of the Armenian forward of Bnei-Sakhnin, who got a ball
  from Maor Buzaglo inside the box and lobbed a magnificent ball under the
  bar of the young Itamar Nitsan and over the keeper's hands.

* Hamed Ganayim, 1:0 vs Maccabee Tel-Aviv (3:2), Week 11 (Round 1).
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
  The finish for Hamed Ganayim, 3 meters from the net with only Dragoslav
  Jevric to beat, couldn't have been simpler; however, it's a great assist
  of Maor Buzaglo who penetrated at the right wing and passed 4 players of
  Maccabee's defence that deserves the highest credit here.

* Maor Buzaglo, 1:0 vs Beitar Jerusalem (1:0), Week 15 (Round 2).
  ---------------------------------------------------------------
  Bnei-Sakhnin of this season, having just returned into Ligat-ha'Al, has
  surprisingly succeeded in scratching the top places, and even gave
  somewhat of a suspense to the League by defeating Beitar Jerusalem for
  the first time that season. 2 minutes from the end, it was a brilliant
  assist of Ilya Yavruyan that cut Beitar's defence like a knife and
  found Maor Buzaglo rushing into the box. The most talented Israeli
  youngster since Yossi Benayoun collected the ball, ran away from
  Cristian Alvarez, wrongfooted Kale Tvrtko and rolled the ball from a
  hard angle from 12 meters that kissed the net near Kale's right post.
  A tremendous, truly European effort.

* Ilya Yavruyan, 1:0 vs Hapoel Kiryat-Shmona (1:0), Week 24 (Round 3).
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  What a wonderful effort of Ilya Yavruyan! Getting a ball from Bogdan
  Apostu at the box line and surrounded by 2 host defenders, he decided
  to lob the ball with a volley over the advancing Dani Amos - and the
  sublime effort proved to be a match winner.

* Maor Buzaglo, 1:0 vs Beitar Jerusalem (2:1), Week 33 (Round 3).
  ---------------------------------------------------------------
  What a shot! A high ball of Hamed Ganayim wasn't cleared properly out
  of Beitar's box, and Ilya Yavruyan pushed the ball with his chest back
  to Maor Buzaglo. The talented youngster raised his right leg and
  volleyed an unstoppable bomb from 20 meters diagonally to the right
  corner of Kale Tvrtko at half a height. This goal could rival even
  the glorious winner of Bnei-Sakhnin from Week 15, also against Beitar
  Jerusalem, also scored by Buzaglo and also assisted by Yavruyan!

THE BEST PLAYER: Maor Buzaglo, midfielder.

THE BIGGEST VICTORY:  3:0 over Maccabee Tel-Aviv   , A, Week 04 (Round 1).
                               Bnei-Yehuda Tel-Aviv, A, Week 09 (Round 1).
                               Hapoel Kefar-Saba   , A, Week 16 (Round 2).

THE BIGGEST LOSS: 0:2 to Maccabee Netanya, H, Week 18 (Round 2).

THE BEST GOALS:
* Paulihno, 1:0 vs Maccabee Tel-Aviv (3:0), Week 04 (Round 1).
  ------------------------------------------------------------
  The first goal of Maccabee Haifa this season was a real beauty. Paulinho, a
  new Brasilian purchase of the Greens who after the first 3 goalless games
  still had to prove himself, connected well to the rolling ball of Giovanni
  Rosso and from 17 meters sent an unstoppable killer to the right high corner
  of a somewhat static Dragoslav Jevric.

* Gustavo Boccoli, 1:0 vs Maccabee Netanya (1:2), Week 07 (Round 1).
  ------------------------------------------------------------------
  Yet another breathstealer of the Green Brasilian midfielder, who reacted to
  a seemingly harmless defending header of Netanya, rushed into the box,
  jumped over Stanislav Angelovic and from the right box corner, 16 meters
  from the net, sent a stunning arched header that opened the score. This
  goal would, however, not been possible without a generous inactivity of
  the experienced Liran Strauber in Netanya's net, who totally misread the
  amazing trajectory of this ball.

* Renato, 1:0 vs Maccabee Herzliya (1:0), Week 11 (Round 1).
  ----------------------------------------------------------
  In a pretty dull game it was a sparkling moment of a Brazilian midfielder,
  who used a bad defensive mistake of the hosts, penetrated into the box and
  nearly from its corner sent a crisp shot at half a height to the opposite,
  right corner of the helplessly stretching Itamar Nitsan.

* Renato, 1:0 vs SC Ashdod (3:0), Week 13 (Round 2).
  --------------------------------------------------
  A brilliant goal with a truly Brazilian flavour. Gustavo Boccoli got a
  ball from Lior Rafaelov and passed it with one brilliant touch to Renato
  who broke a feeble offside trap of Ashdod and found himself with just
  Sammy Adjei to beat. Renato stopped the ball with his right foot and with
  a virtually unseen movement raised it with his left over the helpless
  keeper.

THE BEST PLAYER: Nir Davidovich, keeper.

THE CUP ROAD:

THE BIGGEST VICTORY:  4:0 over Bnei-Yehuda Tel-Aviv, A, Week 19 (Round 2).

THE BIGGEST LOSS: 0:3 to Maccabee Haifa, H, Week 04 (Round 1).

THE BEST GOALS:
* Yossi Shivkhon, 1:0 vs Maccabee Petakh-Tikwa (2:1), Week 13 (Round 2).
  ----------------------------------------------------------------------
  Perhaps, one of the best efforts we would see this season, as Yossi
  Shivkhon gets a ball some 35 meters from the net, stops it on his chest,
  turns around, raises the ball over one defender, runs away from the other
  and finally sends an unstoppable bomb from 22 meters under the bar of Ohad
  Cohen. A truly remarkable way to open the score!

* Yannick Kamanan, 1:0 vs Hapoel Kiryat-Shmona (2:2), Week 16 (Round 2).
  ----------------------------------------------------------------------
  One of the most astonishing actions of this season happened to open the
  score, as Yannick Kamanan reacted to the Yellow corner and heeled an arched
  ball over the stunned defenders and the slow keeper Shavit Elimelekh.

* Erez Messika, 1:1 vs Hapoel Tel-Aviv (1:3), Week 20 (Round 2).
  --------------------------------------------------------------
  This goal was indeed born out of a horrible and uncharacteristic blunder of
  Vincent Enyeama, who overran the striker of Maccabee but released the ball
  badly instead of just kicking it out. However, it was still a great effort
  of Erez Messika, who connected to the ball and sent it with one touch,
  evading two Hapoel's defenders in process, to an open goal from 40 meters.

* Yannick Kamanan, 1:1 vs Hapoel Tel-Aviv (2:1), Week 23 (Round 3).
  -----------------------------------------------------------------
  A brilliant move of soccer as a team game. Rudi Haddad sent a great ball to
  Alain Masudi into the box, the Congolese international midfielder heeled it
  back in a great fashion to the onrushing Kamanan, and the French forward
  finished the move with a clinical low shot to the far corner of Vincent
  Enyeama, out of the keeper's reach.

* Alain Masudi, 2:0 vs Bnei-Sakhnin (3:1), Week 29 (Round 3).
  -----------------------------------------------------------
  The congolese international midfielder reacted well to the precise pass of
  Dan Roman, broke a pathetic offside trap of Bnei-Sakhnin and rolled the
  ball in a cool nonchalance past the wrongfooted Meir Cohen.

THE BEST PLAYER: Rudy Haddad (France), midfielder.

THE BIGGEST LOSS: 0:3 to Maccabee Netanya, A, Week 28 (Round 3).

THE BEST GOALS:
* Reuven Oved, 1:0 vs Hapoel Kefar-Saba (1:1), Week 04 (Round 1).
  ---------------------------------------------------------------
  Wonderful combination of Hapoel Tel-Aviv, finished by a magnificent crisp
  flat volley of Reuven Oved from 18 meters to the right corner of the
  helpless Ohad Levite. The first goal Kefar-Saba conceded this season,
  however, was not enough to make them leave the pitch defeated.

* Dimitar Telkiyski, 1:0 vs Maccabee Tel-Aviv (3:1), Week 20 (Round 2).
  ---------------------------------------------------------------------
  What a goal! Dimitar Telkiyski was running into the box of Dragoslav
  Jevric pretty much alone, and many thought he would try to enter the box
  and try his luck against the keeper. Instead he reached the right edge of
  the box, let the ball jump and then volleyed it with incredible precision
  and trajectory under the right crossbar of Jevric!

* Dimitar Telkiyski, 3:1 vs Beitar Jerusalem (3:1), Week 27 (Round 3).
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  What a magnificent effort of a Bulgarian midfielder, perhaps eclipsing
  even his extraordinary derby effort! Getting a ball in a central circle,
  Dimitar Telkiyski ran all the way to the box of Beitar Jerusalem, nodding
  off Gal Alberman in process and chipping a delicate ball from 22 meters
  over the fingertips of a miserably positioned Kale Tvrtko into the future
  Champions' net.

* Dimitar Telkiyski, 1:1 vs Maccabee Petakh-Tikwa (2:1), Week 32 (Round 3).
  -------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Yet another magnificent effort of Dimitar Telkiyski, who reacted to a
  well-raised ball of Barukh Dego and elegantly lobbed a precise volley
  over Ohad Cohen from some 14 meters.

THE BEST PLAYER: Vincent Enyeama (Nigeria), keeper.

THE BIGGEST LOSS: 1:6 to Maccabee Netanya, H, Week 04 (Round 1).

THE BEST GOALS:
* Patrick Suffo, 2:0 vs Bnei-Yehuda Tel-Aviv (3:0), Week 06 (Round 1).
  --------------------------------------------------------------------
  A magnificent turning volley of the former Cameroonian international player
  from 15 meters under the defender's leg into the top right corner of the
  stunned Dele Aiyenugba.

* Idan Shriki, 2:1 vs Bnei-Yehuda Tel-Aviv (2:3), Week 17 (Round 2).
  ------------------------------------------------------------------
  This effort was a bit reminiscent of the historic goal of Jordan Letchkov
  that knocked Germany out of WC'94. David Revivo raised the ball into the
  box, and Idan Shriki, pressed by a defender, still managed to fly and to
  produce a header to the far corner of Neal Abrabanel.

* Moshe Ohayon, 3:1 vs Hapoel Kefar-Saba (3:1), Week 24 (Round 3).
  ----------------------------------------------------------------
  A great finish for a great game, as pleasant to savour as the snowy air of
  the Swiss town of Winterthur, from where Moshe Ohayon returned to save his
  home club. Getting a ball from Lior Reuven who penetrated at the right
  wing, Ohayon sent it from 9 meters in a half-scissored volley to the far
  corner of Ohad Levite at half a height.

THE BEST PLAYER: Dimitar Makriev (Bulgaria), forward.

THE BIGGEST LOSS:     0:4 to Maccabee Tel-Aviv, H, Week 19 (Round 2).

THE BEST GOALS:
* Moshe Biton, 1:0 vs Bnei-Sakhnin (3:0), Week 05 (Round 1).
  ----------------------------------------------------------
  A corner saw a parried ball of Meir Cohen, but Jose Duarte continued with a
  volley from 18 meters. The ball hit the ground and continued towards Moshe
  Biton, who raised into the air 10 meters from the goal and opened the score
  with a surprising bicycle kick.

* Imoro Lockman, 1:2 vs Maccabee Netanya (1:2), Week 11 (Round 1).
  ----------------------------------------------------------------
  It might have been a despair shot, as no actions seemed to succeed for Bnei-
  Yehuda in an orderly fashion. However, a magnificent whipping ball of
  Lockman from 23 meters under the left crossbar of Liran Strauber left the
  good keeper from Netanya absolutely no chance.

* Cedric Bardon, 1:0 vs SC Ashdod (3:2), Week 17 (Round 2).
  ---------------------------------------------------------
  An opening goal of a Frenchman Cedric Bardon, formerly in Olympique Lyon,
  proved quite spectacular. The ball came to him some 7 meters from the net,
  but at quite a sharp corner. The forward raised his left leg and shot an
  unstoppable bomb under the opposite crossbar of Yossi Shekel who didn't
  have any chance to stop it.

* Moshe Biton, 2:0 vs Maccabee Herzliya (2:0), Week 26 (Round 3).
  ---------------------------------------------------------------
  What a sublime effort! Moshe Biton got a ball 20 meters from the net,
  assessed the bad positioning of Itamar Nitsan and from the box line raised
  an exquisite ball over the keeper. The ball seemed to miss the target, till
  it somehow spinned towards the inner right post and got from there into the
  net.

THE BEST PLAYER: Moshe Biton, forward.

THE BEST GOALS:
* Nenad Savic, 3:1 vs Maccabee Tel-Aviv (3:2), Week 02 (Round 1).
  ---------------------------------------------------------------
  A magnificent shot from 25 meters to the left high corner of Dragoslav
  Jevric, who in a desperate acrobatic flight could only touch the ball
  with his fingertips. This goal was reminiscent of Cristian Pander's
  winning German effort against England at the renewed Wembley stadium
  that same week.

* Omer Damari, 1:0 vs Maccabee Herzliya (1:0), Week 33 (Round 3).
  ---------------------------------------------------------------
  One of the most magnificent efforts of Maccabee Petakh-Tikwa in their
  catastrophal season, and most important, the effort that promised them
  another season in the Israeli Ligat-ha'Al. Omer Damari collected the
  ball some 40 meters from the net at the left wing, advanced towards the
  box, misled one defender and released a powerful flat shot from 20 meters
  that beat Amir Edri and entered the right corner of his goal.

THE BEST PLAYER: Ohad Cohen, keeper.

* 1/ 4.  Beitar Jerusalem     - 2:3 (Gonzales, Talker).

THE BIGGEST VICTORY: 4:2 over SC Ashdod, A, Week 21 (Round 2).

THE BIGGEST LOSS: 0:4 to Beitar Jerusalem, H, Week 25 (Round 3).

THE BEST GOALS:
* Guillermo Israelevich, 2:1 vs Hapoel Kiryat-Shmona (2:2), Week 07 (Round 1).
  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  Once again a home defence tried to push the ball away from the box, whereas
  Guillermo Israelevich got the ball to himself, passed one defender and shot
  in a turn from 20 meters to the bar of Shavit Elimelekh and in. A really
  magnificent effort.

* Samuel Yeboah, 3:2 vs Maccabee Netanya (3:2), Week 09 (Round 1).
  ----------------------------------------------------------------
  It was perhaps a bit of an historic irony that Reuven Attar, the coach of
  Maccabee Netanya, became a victim of a goal similar to his own historic
  masterpiece against France in 1993. Guillermo Israelevich raised a ball to
  Samuel Yeboah, and the forward, standing in the box, jumped into the air
  and sent from 12 meters a magnificent bicycle kick that left Liran Strauber
  absolutely no chance.

* Uri Uzan, 1:0 vs Hapoel Kiryat-Shmona (2:3), Week 18 (Round 1).
  ---------------------------------------------------------------
  The score in this game full of goals was opened early by Uri Uzan who tried
  perhaps to raise the ball into the box from the right side, some 25 meters
  from the net. The ball got an unexpected spin though and landed into the
  right corner of a helplessly looking Dani Amos.

* Douglas Da Silva, 1:0 vs Maccabee Netanya (1:1), Week 26 (Round 3).
  -------------------------------------------------------------------
  There is no doubt that soccer makes us enjoy it with lots of unpredictable
  things - but one can as well enjoy the great exercises coming as a well-
  prepared homework. Such was a goal of Douglas Da Silva against Maccabee
  Netanya. Guillermo Israelevich sent a brilliantly measured free kick from
  35 meters into the box, Da Silva ran away from his guard and from 8 meters
  headed the ball to the ground and saw a rebound enter under the left
  crossbar of a helpless Liran Strauber.

THE BEST PLAYER: Samuel Yeboah (Ghana), forward.

THE BIGGEST LOSS:     0:3 to Hapoel Kiryat-Shmona, A, Week 01 (Round 1).

THE BEST GOALS:
* Maharan Raadi, 1:0 vs Maccabee Netanya (1:2), Week 02 (Round 1).
  ----------------------------------------------------------------
  Getting a ball from Saidi Makasi, the young Maharan Raadi ran on the right
  wing, bypassed his defender elegantly in order to move towards the center
  and shot from a right box corner a curved ball to the far corner, out of
  reach of a desperately diving Liran Strauber.

* Tomer Hemed, 1:2 vs Hapoel Kefar-Saba (3:3), Week 23 (Round 3).
  ---------------------------------------------------------------
  The young Tomer Hemed scored shortly after the break his first goal of the
  night in what became a famous hat-trick. Getting a ball from Maharan Raadi
  inside the box, the forward headed a lobbed ball from 12 meters exquisitely
  over the hesitant Guy Haimov.

* Shalev Menashe, 1:0 vs Maccabee Tel-Aviv (1:0), Week 24 (Round 3).
  ------------------------------------------------------------------
  A winning effort of Shalev Menashe against Maccabee Tel-Aviv was a worthy
  treat to the mighty whirls it caused in the bottom part of the table. The
  ball arrived at Maccabee Tel-Aviv's box accidentally, but neither Rudy
  Haddad nor Joe Bizera could hit it away. Shalev Menashe used the confusion,
  took the ball, bypassed the 2 unlucky Yellow defenders and between the legs
  of the third one curled the ball from 12 meters to the far corner of a
  helpless Jevric.

THE BEST PLAYER: Maharan Raadi, midfielder.
