On December 13, 1997, the Coyote Creek Disc Golf Course became host to the first monthly tournament held since the course was first installed, less than a month ago, Nov 22, 1997. The tourney was hosted by course designer and "instigator", Tom Shot.

Twenty players, many from Santa Cruz, showed up. One fellow came from Napa and another lives one exit away at Capital Avenue!
After the first two rounds of nine, some of the baskets were moved to their alternate setting and scorecards were reorganized. Everybody voted to play two more rounds of nine and then the final two.
There was a winner take all Amateur division and a Pro division with 3 paying places. Several players had 23's for a round of nine. Every hole was deuced by someone except for hole 14.
