OLYMPIC CONFERENCE
WASHINGTON TWP. 2, CHEROKEE 1:
Chris Godish provided all of the offensive necessary as the Minutemen defeated Cherokee.
Godish ripped a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Minutemen a 2-0 lead. Cherokee cut the deficit to 2-1 with a single run in the sixth but could get no closer. Godish finished the game 2-for-2.
Tony Casoli turned in a complete-game effort to earn the decision, striking out two batters and walking a pair. Rob Eagan also added to Township’s six-hit effort with a double.
The game was the season opener for Washington Township.
