Godish's homer lifts Minutemen over Chiefs, 2-1
Chris Godish slugged a home run to give Washington Township all the runs it needed to hand visiting Cherokee its first loss of the baseball season, 2-1, yesterday in the Olympic Conference.
Godish's two-run blast in the fifth inning gave the Minutemen a 2-0 lead in their first game of the season; winning pitcher Tony Casoli was touched for a run in the top of the sixth. Casoli scattered six hits, struck out two,and walked two against a Chiefs team that had scored 28 runs in its first twogames this spring.
Cherokee (2-1), ranked No. 2 in South Jersey by the Inquirer, got doubles from Greg Amato, Dave August and Phil DAlonzo.
