Sligo Rovers 2-2 Finn Harps

The Rovers Rovers, in their first match under Nicky Reid had Matthew Daly sent-off after just 15 minutes for a bad tackle on veteran Harps' centre forward Jonathan Speak. Stephen Kelly scored a penalty for Harps after Speak was fouled by Sligo keeper Mark Westhead in the 40th minute. So at half-time in Finn Park, Rovers were both a goal and a player down.
Sligo rallied strongly showing character with Padraig Moran scoring five minutes after the break. He seized on a loose ball and ran forward before shooting beyond the stranded Harps goalie. After 77 minutes Moran cleverly broke the off-side trap running on to a Steve Jones pass and scored, putting Rovers into a well deserved lead. The ten men hung on bravely until three minutes from time when substitute and former Cliftonville winger, Marty McCann equalized.
