Here is my recognition to my favorite players, past and present, although mostly present. These are players who make(or made) the game better because they played it. They may just be good sports, or may have great community relations, or maybe they are just good honest players. No, you won't ever see Albert Belle, Tony Phillips or Wil Cordero here! Hope you enjoy it!

Roger Clemens is a great sportsman, and a great ballplayer. He is headed for the real Hall of Fame, but we can say we had him first!

Travis Lee has always intruiged me since he played here at SDSU. I read some articles about him and found out he is a good role model, very humble and a good Christian

Kevin Orie of the Chicago Cubs is one of my role models. I read about him on the way to the 1996 Cub Convention and wanted to meet him. I've had the chance twice and he has been a very good person both times

Rey Ordonez of the New York Mets is as stunning a defensive star as you can find in Professional Baseball. It has been predicted that one day he will pull down a plane flying over Shea to La Guardia.

This is my other Cub role model. He is a good pitcher and from what I know a good person. He has made it to the Majors from a humble beginning in Maracaibo, Venezuela, to lead the Cubs in vistories last year

You can't find a much better pitcher anywhere than Gregory Alan Maddux. He has won 4 Cy Young Awards and is considered by many one of the greatest pitchers of all-time.

Derek Jeter is a great young shortstop and one of the few Yankees you don't hear bad stuff about. I'm sure the temptations in New York are great, but he has managed to sidestep them, and keep his mind on baseball.

I'm sure that many will disagree with me on this one, but in my mind Andy Benes has done much more than just winning 105 games. He is an upstanding member in the community, and I have had personal experiences with him when he visited me in the hospital, and spoke at my church.

Jed Hansen is the rookie 2nd baseman for the KC Royals. He is a very devoted Christian and works with AIA(Athletes in Action.)He is, so far, one of the nicest ballplayers I've ever met.

This is "We Are The Champions". It seemed appropriate because these guys are the TRUE champions of baseball.
