CURTIS Joseph | Blacksmith living in Corner House from 1845-58 and the Loke from 1860, he was a noted practical joker. He owned several cannons which were fired to celebrate local occassions. One stormy morning, a cannon was fired and the townsfolk thinking it was the rocket brigade all ran to the front to see which ship had run aground.
