The original Ocicat was the unexpected result of an experimental breeding between an Abyssinian and a Siamese. The first kitten was named ocicat because of the resemblance to an Ocelot. The ocicat resembles a wild cat but no wild blood is used.

Ocicats are a shorthaired breed which do not require any special care, they don't need a lot of grooming (although they like it) and their diet is essentially the same as any other domestic cat. They are a very dense, muscular cat. Females average 6-9lbs with most being 9lbs. Males average 9-14lbs and bigger.

They are sociable, curious animals who like to be around people almost ALL THE TIME! Some words to describe the ocicat are, loving, gentle, playful and highly intelligent. They are easily trained, many will fetch, walk on a leash, respond to whistled commandments as well as adapt to house rules.

Ocicats can come in various different colours, tawny with tan to golden background, chocolate with tan to golden background, cinnamon with creamy to tan bg, fawn with light tan bg, silver with silver to white bg, etc. Pricing on Ocicats usually depend on type, applicable markings and bloodlines.

Ocicats are very much like Bengals and savannah in temperament, behavior, and care although they are not of wild blood.
