This Medieval dice-based Role-Playing Game, available on the server of rpgworlds.com, is brought to you by the Crystal Shores RPG Staff Team.

It was designed with several elements in mind:

*Quality roleplaying and administration
*Simplicity in understanding how to play
*A place of stability in a constantly changing world of gaming.

With these three key functions in mind, it is asked that:

Registration: A visit to the character generation section does -NOT- mean an auto-registration. One must be posted HERE to be considered Registered. Each registration is reviewed for errors prior to posting, a process that takes 24-48 hours. You will not get a confirmation mail if approved; you will only hear from us in case of errors. If we cannot contact you at the reply e-mail address you provided, because it's a non-existent addy, or the mailbox is full, or any other reason not attributed to our staff, your reg. goes in the trash can, regardless of "how great the background was", or "how much time you took to write it." It takes just as much, if not more, of our time, to read and post these (you might write one or two, but we process them by the armful), so asking for and expecting compliance isn't unreasonable. However, if we get a failure notice back because WE made the error (example: sending something to hotmail.net rather than hotmail.com, we, of course, will not penalize you for our goof-up.

If a GM writes you to guide you in registration, be advised that they're taking time out of their online and offline life to walk you through something that you COULD do on your own if you paid attention to the directions that are plastered all over the generator..so do not reciprocate with an attitude. If problems are reported (example: One person flatly told a GM to "f*ck off" because he wanted a vampire character here, and was "going to have it that way"..as you can see, that person's character indeed doesn't exist here..) the offender's reg. will be fwded to the owner, and the email address/IP# kept on file. Why some people throw fits we don't know, but thankfully that's only 1% of the registrants...thank Khlamar :P

Roomsitting: A practice some people partake in on the server, entailing being in more than once place at one time; this is frowned on in the #Pleasuredome, and not allowed in the #Terrordome at all. We don't want an artificially high number on the server list of how many people are in our room. Of course you can play in other games, to think you can't is silly; but while in the #Pleasuredome and #Terrordome, your attentions are required there. This was made a rule by our experiences elsewhere; questors not paying attention to matters at hand because they're in three other rooms at once. This does disservice to you, your fellow gamers, and the Hosts.

We go for quality, not quantity. Obviously, quests require your full, undivided attention, to the highest degree possible, IRL permitting. But being in several rooms at once when our host is giving his/her time to give you an event, and you'd rather give half or a quarter of your attention, is strictly prohibited and could get you barred from future quests.

*Want to quest, but are a little nervous? Prior to the quest's beginning, ask if the Host participates in the QUEST RATINGS SYSTEM Check it out and see what *you* are comfortable with..or, are you feeling lucky tonight?

While you are free to choose metal-based protection (Armor) during your initial trip to the Crystal Shores Character Generator, as well as purchase it from the Crystal Shores Citadel after you become a citizen, there are several logical things you must be aware of. Besides the extreme humidity and temperature of the Island (where one could physically roast to death if caught in these conditions in full armor for extended periods of time; stat rolls of survival might be tested;) do know that the salty air has a corrosion effect and rusts metals quickly. How does this affect you? Click here to learn more about the drawbacks of metal armors.

If you register a character and abandon it here (the definition of abandonment meaning not activating the character within four weeks after an approved registration request has been posted; or; having an active character but not playing for a period exceeding sixty days), it is subject to storyline closure. Never will your nickname be activated on the server, in the rooms, and played *for* you; instead, the character will be written out of the script. If you return to Crystal Shores and find that your character is dead, you can always start over again. Check HERE for easy reference. These closures are for, IC, accounting for unseen colonists, as well as the OOC periodic purging our filespace of unnecessary weight. If for some reason you are leaving for IRL reasons (relocation, vacation, etc.), kindly contact the Help Desk in advance. We have no problem accomodating reasonable requests.

If Server Admin provides us with verified reports that our players have been caught harassing other RPGs' staff or disrupting their games, the following action will be taken: (Provided you didn't get yourself server-banned)

1. You will be called in to discuss what occurred. No excuses will be accepted because this is unacceptable behavior.

2. Depending on the Server Admin's report and if they wish to make recommendations, you will be penalized by the following, but not limited to, ways:

Loss of XP, Loss of GP, akick from our rooms for anywhere from 24 hours to 30 days, or banished (forfeiting your character in Crystal Shores).

Our tolerance is ZERO on lurking, luring, harassing and disrupting both in our game and in that of others'. We don't like it done to us, and will not condone our people doing it to others.

IC: "In Character" is a must. 1-1, also known as /msg, pm or whisper, is for OOC, "out of character." The policy is: We warn once, we kick on second. If OOC continues as a problematic habit, expect to be kicked, or possibly banned if the problem continues. We wish to provide a means of irl escapism.

Out of courtesy to your fellow rp'ers, do *not* engage in scening with them in 1-1 unless permission by the other party is given. This can be annoying to some, and if complaints are made, you will be warned once in 1-1, then kicked. If the problem continues, you can end up Banished.

Not everyone likes private messaging, and you are asked to keep IC on the main.

Rules on stats. 12 characteristics/traits comprise what we're made of. For the precise definitions on these, click HERE. Note that the d100 system is in place any time a weapon is involved with an attack or evasive maneuver, but familiarize yourself with the d35 tests as well. Trust us, you'll need it.::Chuckles::

Updates. Updates of your character sheet are done approximately twice-thrice a month. Sometimes more often, sometimes right on schedule. This is not in alignment with many other games we've played at and hosted in; one particular game updated no one for well over a year. We will not keep you waiting for updates for unreasonable amounts of time, but we will not accept unreasonable requests for, example, twice-WEEKLY updates.

The Update Date is available on all characters' sheets at the bottom and is based on last date the character played as noted by our GMs. Some have never been updated because they've never appeared. Check the GM to Player Updates Page for announcements on when updates were most recently done. If by a slim chance you were skipped on an update and have earned one, contact the Help Desk with information for us to adjust your sheet accordingly.

When creating a character, if asking for "Other" as a profession or race, do not ask for the following because they will be denied, for they do not fit this particular RPG's schematic.

(List includes but is not limited to:) Vampire, Shapeshifter, Necromancer (ONE has been approved and that's it), Dragons that can take on human forms, Talking Wolf, Talking Dog, Talking Horse or Alien from space (you'd be surprised what we see on some registrations), Assassin, Executioner, Ninja, etc. This game does not accomodate those types of professions and races. For a feel of what is acceptable and playable, read some of our posted characters' pages.

We've had some great professions requested and granted, solely for the RP purposes, such as domestic, vagrant, and teacher. A good rule of thumb when asking for something "Other": Ask yourself before asking us "How can this contribute to the Game? Am I looking to be different, or am I looking to "Get stuff"? Can I do justice to being the first of a race or profession, a one-of-a-kind? What am I offering in exchange for having a request granted?"

Only you know those answers, so please put thought into it if you're asking for something above and beyond our standard offerings.

Another note on Character Registration: Backgrounds like "I am big and will kill anything that gets in my way" or "I am beautiful and everyone loves me" are something we pass around and LAUGH at. Get real. This is medieval fantasy and we don't want to see backgrounds that are godmodingly silly.

No Children* the age 12 and under are Permitted within the Pleasuredome Establishment after 9:00 pm EST, unless accompanied by a PC Guard/Guardian or the Child's Parent(s). A Child (12 and under) CANNOT come within the PleasureDome after 9:00pm. EST with NPC Guards.

*Children=defined as Child Characters within Crystal Shores IRC Roleplaying Game.

If you see an Out-of-Uniform host, or the Game Owner, and wish to speak to them OOC regarding game issues, kindly 1-1 and ASK if it's ok to discuss business first. For even they like to get in some pure RP time, and it's very difficult to do that when 10 people all begin to 1-1 you and commandeer your Instant Messenger all at once. So please show some courtesy and ask before approaching someone who's using their Character nick, regardless of whether an @ is visible (Opped or not.) They deserve some playtime too.

Do NOT ask for special, enhanced damage weapons. You will be told, simply, NO. This is a non-issue of this RPG. Guildmasters and First Knights ONLY will have a permanent +5 added to their personal primary and secondary weapons. Temporary enchantments are available at the Bazaar, and are rather costly, but do not pressure the GMs on quest for a "gift" or look to haggle the price of a +5 down.. or try to get one if you've been denied..or you'll be labeled, quite frankly, a greedy pain in the ass, who does nothing but beg for "stuff"..and who likely won't get ANYTHING if they continue, except /akicked. Now, do we want that..? :P

Don't argue with hosts on the main (in the channel.) If you can't 1-1 a host, don't think that (((talking like this on the screen))) isn't "really" arguing or distracting. Trust us: it is. If you have an unresolved problem, write us at The Help Desk and our staff will get back to you in a prompt manner.

IC Sexual innuendoes CAN be played out, in a reasonable manner. Some language is also acceptable. However, words such as the "F" and "C" words are NOT. Nor is "/me grabs *player* and has sex with them on a table." Those behaviors will buy you an ejection from the room. If in doubt..don't say it. This is NOT a haven for cybersex, if you need to get off, do it elsewhere.

AND: IC Sexual innuendo is far different than OOC Sexual Harrassment. We will not tolerate irl people being abused. That is also against server guidelines.

Just like asking for special weapons, there's also another way to piss off the GMs: Asking "What am I Getting??" DO NOT, repeat, DO NOT ask this question of a host on the main or in a whisper. XP and GP are EARNED, not given away, but the players can attest that we've rewarded great roleplaying lavishly. So many times elsewhere we've seen this question "What do I get??" asked..those that ask look like beggars. In this game, the answer will be "Nothing"..and the asker kicked from the room..and any XP or GP earned from an event is denied. Don't ask. Roleplay, become your character for awhile..and the rewards will come your way.

Do NOT be afraid to approach a GM with questions. If you don't understand something, it will be explained to you (if the host is out of uniform, follow the above protocol rule first) in 1-1. If the GM doesn't know the answer, he or she will GET the answer and provide you with it. There are no such things as stupid questions..well, okay, there ARE, but you won't be told "Well, that's just stupid. Go away." You might get directed to the Crystal Shores FAQ located on the Main Page, so check there as well with your specific questions.

GMs are to be treated with respect. NO EXCEPTIONS. Separate the ooc GM from their IC characters. All who work here are doing so in an effort to create a fantasy world that we can not only coexist in, but also to have a good time. GMs are not to be cursed at, belittled, or ignored..if you have a problem with a GM, document it and contact the help desk. If you have a problem with the final disposition of the help desk..well, most respectfully, then you have a problem. We operate under server guidelines and aligned within our posted parameters.

Dueling Rules:

Duels are run as follows:

1) At the beginning of a duel, the GM announces a roll for initiative. Initiative decides who attacks first in a duel. The GM has discretion whether to use this number for the rest of the duel, or roll a new initiative every round. The GM must announce this decision before the Duel begins.

2) Only one action is allowed per round; there are no dual attacks. Evades are the exception to the rule. Multiple actions will result in a disqualification and no XP will be awarded to the disqualified party. Again, there are NO dual attacks.

3) Critical hits and critical fumbles work as follows:

On a roll of a 1 or 2, a critical hit is scored against your opponent. They are allowed an evade at HALF of their normal chance. If the hit is successful, damage is rolled, then doubled, then 5 is added to that number (Ex. Dum-Dum the Ogre rolls a critical hit, and his opponent, Elmo the Elf rolls to evade. Elmo fails to evade and Dum-Dum rolls his damage, which is d10 because he uses a claymore. He rolls a 10. the 10 is doubled to 20, then he adds 5, for a total of 25 damage.)

Critical fumbles work differently. On a roll of 99 or 100, you have made a costly mistake. (BUT, you didn't "hit yourself".)

If you are rolling for initiative each round this procedure is followed: If you went first in the round, then your opponent, on his turn, gets a chance to hit you with a +25% bonus to his attack roll. NOT damage. You then automatically lose initiative for the next round, allowing your opponent to go first and attack at their normal percentage. If you went last, then you automatically lose initiative next round, and your opponent gets their next attack with the +25% bonus. If you are playing with fixed initiative the player who did NOT fumble gets an immediate attack at +25% to hit, outside the normal initiative routine. Once this attack has been resolved the players return to their normal initiatives.

Essentially, the round is stopped to allow the attack and then resumed afterwards. (Ex. The next round, Elmo the Elf wins initiative and tries to counterattack Dum-Dum. Unfortunately, Elmo rolls a 99. Dum-Dum's action is next and he attacks with a +25% bonus. He hits, but rolls low damage, leaving Elmo alive. The next round begins and Elmo automatically loses initiative, giving Dum-Dum a chance to redeem himself.....after all, it's almost dinner time, and the cannibal is hungry.)

4) When Fighting an opponent who you cannot see or who is otherwise invisible the disadvantaged character attacks and evades at HALF their normal percentages. So a novice character fighting someone they couldn't see would attack at 20% and evade at 10%. Please note not all combats involve invisibility and these rules apply to fighting any opponent you cannot see.

5) Do not argue with a GM when they make a decision. If you fight with a GM about a list, a roll, or a mistake, you will be disqualified. GMs are only human, and they make mistakes. If you bring it up in a polite manner, preferably in 1-1, the GM will check the disputed information and make a ruling.

6) The GM has the final say on what equipment is and isn't allowed in a duel. Once again, we are trying to promote an orderly, fun dueling environment, and moders are not tolerated. No way can you carry -everything- you own with you, at all times. Many walk the beach unarmed, or left their armor home due to excessive heat of a day. It doesn't appear at the snap of fingers, so keep that in mind in your roleplaying. Also, only registered characters are allowed to duel.

7) Last but not least have fun and don't ruin others' fun. If you want to watch a duel, great. But please remain quiet during the match, so as not to disrupt the fight and confuse the people involved. (Mild cheering or catcalling is alright provided it's nothing too distracting.) This also means NO popups during scheduled duels. The first offense will be a kick as a warning, a 24 hour ban from the arena on the second offense. If you wish to speak amongst those not dueling (the 'crowd'), use your whisper.

Thank you and good luck dueling!

XP/HP Chart

Levels as you may be familiar with aren't given much weight around here.

NO, you can't transfer your "Levels" from elsewhere here, even the GMs haven't done that. It's been called to our attention that some games that do might be skating along the lines of copyright infringement, but our policy has always been no transfers, and this is non-negotiable. We've all started on equal ground. Your growth potential is entirely up to you.

But yes, of course, XP does in fact means something and you are working towards strengthening and growing. But "I can kick your ass because I'm lvl 6" isn't something you'll hear in this world. Our generous XP charts, % to hit and evade, and HP are listed below.

Lvl: Beginner. XP=0 to 1000 40% to hit 20% to evade 25 hp
Lvl: Intermediate. XP=1001 to 5000 50% to hit 30% to evade 35 hp
Lvl: Master. XP=5001 to 10,000 60% to hit 40% to evade 50 hp
Lvl: Sage. XP=10,001 and beyond. 80% to hit 60% to evade 75 hp
