In a world that is constantly moving towards the assumption of evolution and the universe coming into existence by random chance, the case for a creator continues to strengthen, sometimes even through scientific evidence meant to disprove it. The constant assertion made by the scientific community that there is no creator is made so forcefully, that they are shocked when the minister of science claims to believe in intelligent design. And yet, no matter how hard they continue to deny the existence of a creator, and the evidence of intelligent design, the universe continues to conspire to prove them wrong. For example, in the article “Quantum brings no solace to physicists”, Michael Brooks mentions the fact that although conventional thinking suggests that all the fundamental forces that exist in nature today diverged from a single force soon after the big bang, this theory may be impossible to prove through quantum effects.1
In the real world, there are very many things that evidence the case for design, also called the teleological argument, or the “watchmaker analogy”. The precision of detail in all areas of the physical world, quantum physics included, evidence a strong case for the world and universe being designed in most astonishing detail. To begin discussing the evidence for design, we must recognize that for life to exist, we need an orderly (and by implication, intelligible) universe.2
This orderly universe would need to see order at many different levels. For planets, stars, and entire galaxies to interact in a way that does not see complete annihilation of the universe, we need Newtonian mechanics operating in a three-dimensional universe. For the stable elements of the periodic table to provide the “building blocks” for life, we need atomic structure “to be constrained by the laws of quantum mechanics.”2 In fact, the evidence for design is so strong that British astronomer Fred Hoyle said “[he] does not believe that any scientist who examines the evidence would fail to draw the inference that the laws of nuclear physics have been deliberately designed with regard to the consequences they produce…”
When it comes to quantum physics, perhaps one of the strangest evidences for a creator is the fact that when it comes to quantum physics, “a conscious observer is necessary to create reality. The conclusion is we literally create reality with our thoughts.” As a famous physicist in the 1920s said, “It looks as if the d*** light is waiting to see how we're going to do the experiment, and then deciding which way it's going to travel.” Robert Anton Wilson also remarked that “any description of the universe is a description of the instrument you use to take your reading of the universe.” 3 This is where the theory gets a little complicated: the premise is the fact that if reality exists on the basis of there being an observer, then was the observer not then designed to observe? This may be a little hard to understand at first, but in studying quantum physics, we can see that fact that the universe was almost designed to constantly astound. No matter how much is learnt, there is more to learn, and even then we can never know everything about the universe. Even then, the mere randomness of the behavior of particles at an atomic level would mean that the universe would be in constant physical chaos that would make life impossible. And yet this randomness was designed only to exist on the subatomic level, not in the general day-to-day level that can be observed within the world. In conclusion, quantum physics in its perfectly orchestrated randomness indicates that there is a superior Designer, who created the universe with such perfected detail. Even on the smallest levels, the precision of variables shows that everything is dependent on stability of the smallest constants, such as Planck's constant, which is precise to even the smallest amounts.
In conclusion, though scientists regularly attempt to do away with the theories of intelligent design, the universe itself seems to scream it. And this is clearly seen in the case of quantum mechanics.
