Rita Mae Brown lists her cat, Sneaky Pie, as co-author of this series. Harry Haristeen is the Post Master in Crozet, Virginia. She finds murderers while her cat, Mrs. Murphy, and dog, Tee Tucker, talk to other animals in annoyingly coy voices. The early books in this series are less smug than Brown's other novels. Nice picture of Sneaky Pie, though.
