LINDA FAIRSTEIN
Alexandra Cooper, assistant Manhattan DA, is the head prosecutor of the sex crimes bureau, a job held in real life by Fairstein herself. Patricia Cornwell has been touting Cooper as the police counterpart of Kay Scarpetta. Fairstein's experience lends authenticity to the legal background in these books, but I found the plots themselves unlikely. Shouldn't a bureau chief in the New York DA's office spend more time on administrative tasks or in court and less time traipsing around crime scenes and being targetted by killers?
