KATHERINE V. FORREST
This is one of the more highly regarded detective series to come out of Naiad Press. In fact, Murder At The Nightwood Bar is supposed to be optioned for a movie. Even so, I find Kate Delafield a sometimes stiff and not very likeable character. And Forrest's treatment of broad social issues in the last few novels seems forced and plodding to me. These negatives, however, have to be weighed against the considerable plus of reading a cop story and not having the racism and homophobia of most major police departments glossed over or excused. These books are certainly worth reading.

If you enjoy the Kate Delafield stories, try Claire McNab's Carol Ashton series.
