Bush admits he likes the Taiwanese "because they're little and cute - like Teletubbies."

Taiwan To Get Weapons

This week the Bush administration approved the sale of several different military systems to the nation of Taiwan, which seeks to buy such items for defense against China.

The offer includes four Kidd-class destroyers, eight diesel-powered submarines, and several sub-hunting planes, mine-sweeping helicopters and advanced torpedoes and missiles systems.

Not included were state-of-the-art Aegis radar equipped destroyers that the Taiwanese had originally asked for, as they wouldn't be available until 2010.

Taiwan remains a sticking point between U.S. and China relations, as Beijing has been quite vocal about the island nation returning to the communist superpower. China considers Taiwan a renegade province and has rattled sabres about any American arm sales to the country.

Despite Chinese sentiments to the contrary, President Bush decided that the arm sales would be a good thing, to ensure stability in the reigon.

"The Chinese needs to understand that their imperialympic desires will not be tolerated. The days of a larger country taking over, or becoming dominant in another country, has passed. That's why we sold weapons to Taiwan, so they could be their own peoples."

Bush further added that he "will be working with my advisors on turning Taiwan into our nation's fifty-eighth state, so that their independence and freedom will be assured by control from Washington and, of course, myself."
