New Line ANC 10 Celtic Chariot |
Now this is cool! The chariot is nicely done. It's yoke is considerably shorter than the Airfix ones, but it looks really good when put together. Actually, it doesn't look too dissimilar to Mark Ottley's scratch built chariots. You get two different styles of 'sides', obviously so's you can have a little variety if you purchase more than one chariot. As I've only got one, I'm going to use the spare sides (the semi-circular ones) on a spare Airfix chariot body (and horses) I had, that didn't have any sides. That, and some more metal wheels (this time with an axle - the wheels can fall off a little too easily otherwise!) and presto, I've got me another chariot. As you can see from the scan, ANC 11 gets you four chariot crews - two drivers and two, well, commanders if I can use an Ancient Brit Panzer Division term! Which is good if you've got a spare chariot but no crew (see above). [Actually, I'm thinking of adding some plastic drivers to the afore mentioned spare chariot (Italeri Gaul with wings and a spare Esci Barbarian as driver, like Marks) and scratch building a balsa chariot for these spare metal dudes. Dunno, they just seem worth the extra bother!] As for the figures themselves, they are really good. The driver with his leg in the air is actually half way up the yoke. Looks great, but a little unstable! Nice idea, but I'm not sure how to keep him from falling off. Lots of super glue I suspect! |
