The morning of the appointment, Dee awakened her alter ego early, so he could take a longer than usual shower. This would permit him to shave much more carefully, and lower than usual as some of the pictures would show her decolletage -- and she did not want any of her alter ego's ugly body hairs showing.
Into the bag went the white frilly front blouse, razor, and the accessories they'd agreed upon two evenings before. Then, off to work for the morning. Dee was excited, and her alter ego's stomach was churning, and as noon approached, they left for the mall. In the mall parking lot, Dee reminded her alter ego to touch up his face with the razor, so into the J.C. Penney's rest room for that on the way in.
They were at the Glamour Shots store a few minutes early, and had to sit and wait while a previous client's portraits were finished -- then it was too late to back out now -- it was Dee's turn.
The artist led Dee's alter ego into a small curtained booth to change, and gave him a tube top to put on under a smock. She suggested the first shot would probably work best with the same bra as for the jacket, and he should put that one on under the tube top. When finished, she led him to the first chair, and started the makeup application.
It was still lunch time in the mall -- about 12:20 or so -- and there were lots of people walking by the Glamour Shots store. If any had looked closely at this time, they might have recognized what was going on, but most just kept walking by. A few customers did come into the store (the waiting chairs and the receptionist's counter were about 15 feet from Dee's chair) and although a couple of them recognized what was happening, they didn't pay heed to it in the least.
Glamour Shots uses theatrical makeup, so it has great coverage, and after application of the base and blush, and a superb eye treatment, she fitted the wig and combed it out to frame Dee's face. She opened the smock and dusted her decolletage with some blush, too. By this time, even Dee's alter ego could not see himself in the mirror any more -- Dee was staring back at him with those green eyes and that auburn hair!
"OK, time for the shoot!" she said with a smile at the object of 20 minutes work. Dee followed her into the studio area, where she selected a gold and white sequin tube top for the first outfit. After accessorizing, it was time to sit, move this way and that way, then click (but not here, please -- this click is not a link.
The photographer led Dee through the four poses, and it was time to change outfits. Dee removed the sequin top and put on the sheer ivory jacket. The pushy pads, and the Victoria's Secret Miracle Bra (an ivory demi-style with a lot of very pretty embroidery on it) did their thing, and with some more accessorizing we'd be ready. A couple strands of pearls and clip earrings, and we were set.
Next, it was to be the white frilly front blouse -- so it was time to change from the Miracle Bra to the white chiffon 36C bra with the silicone forms. Then the blouse -- and accessories again. This time it was the blue topaz tennis bracelet and ring, with matching earrings -- but the earrings were a dangle style for pierced ears. Dee had planned for this, and made a couple tabs from 3-M Magic Mending Tape (the Scotch Tape that is translucent) to hang the earrings and tape to the back of her ears. That's the view you see in this sequence of poses. A few clicks later, this outfit was history and it was time for the last one.
The artist had suggested we do the turtleneck last to keep it from messing the makeup when we were removing it. Easy, just off with the jewelry and blouse, and on with the turtleneck, but it took three of us (Dee, standing there in her bra, the artist, and the photographer) to get it on without either messing the hait or makeup, or getting makeup on it. A few more clicks and we were done.
One of Glamour Shot's secrets to success is that they use a film camera for the portraits, but use an electronic video camera to record the shots, so as soon as you have finished the shooting, you can see video proofs! One small problem could be that they also may have those captured video shots on display on a monitor in the outer part of the store, and so several people were waiting to see and watch which shots Dee would choose.
Still in the red turtleneck (but her alter ego's work slacks), Dee and the receptionist reviewed the video proofs at the receptionist's desk, where she had another monitor and a keyboard to control what was being seen. It was easy enough to eliminate quite a few of the poses. When it came down to the last three, several extra kibbitzers had joined the discussion and they contributed to the decision -- and they were a bit amazed when they realized whom they were helping. One of the most helpful bystanders was a cosmetologist and she had her 10 year old daughter with her. Dee felt uncomfortable about this, but they all made her know they had no problem and thought the whole thing was a good show.
