More than just information about the battle, this site offers Civil War enthusiasts with plenty of tourist information needed when planning a trip to the battlefield. Includes a listing of hotels, motels, bed and breakfasts and campgrounds as well as a calendar of upcoming events for Gettysburg and the surrounding area (Adams County). Subtitled "the Daily Newspaper of the Civil War", this site offers updates on Civil War-related current events, as well as sections on Civil War trivia, recipes, polls, upcoming events,links, and even the current weather for battlefield parks . Index to the Civil War in Missouri Not so much an informational site as simply a resource for a TON of links to information about the American Civil War, as it happened in Missouri, including summaries of just about every battle fought there, regiments formed in the state and links to local chapters of the Sons and Daughters of Union Veterans organizations. Dubbed "Where History Lives on the Net", this site is the on-line home of several well-known history magazines, including America's Civil War and Civil War Times. Viewers of this site can check out excerpts from the latest issues of each magazine, as well as search the archives for information. Other magazines represented on this site include Military History and Great Battles. Canada's specialty cable channel devoted to history. The site includes a listing of upcoming features for their "History on Film" series (which has featured Gettysburg and Glory in the past) as well as an impressive array of documentaries and specials. In addition, the site contains a "Today in History" feature as well as a "Fun and Games" section. Although the references to the American Civil War are not as plentiful as other sites listed on this page, it is a great site for an web-surfing history buff. Check this site out for more information on CD-Roms devoted to the Gettysburg and Antietam battlefields, including maps, virtual tours of the battlefields and information on all of the monuments and markers contained therein. You can also order Civil War screensavers from this site. 140th Anniversary of the Battle of Shiloh Bruce Crawford Productions produced this video record of the 140th reenactment of the Battle of Shiloh, which took place on April 5-7, 2002 and featured 100,000 participants.
