Have you been to the Dominican Republic?

If you have any questions for me about anything related to the D.R. and its people please email me:

You know you've been in the Dominican Republic for too long when....

--you see carpet and it surprises you

--you get that awkward feeling that electricity has been too constant

--you can recognize a Bachata song

--you bargain over 5 pesos

--you have no fear about eating chimies

--you stop using Charmin

--you think the street food smells and looks good

--you dry off in front of the fan

--you get the urge for the "Bandera" meal

--you actually use Limon when you're sick

--whenever the water comes back on you feel like filling something up

--your ties are two shades lighter

--you think about eating a chicken foot

--you pet the animals

--you actually think roll-on deodorants are pretty cool

--you have to use Gold Bond powder on your crotch

--you have a credit account at the colmado (corner store)

--you're the one singing on the guagua (bus)

--you ask for double worm pills

--you talk about the novelas (soaps) in conversation

--you cross the street to walk in the shade

--you begin to believe that mosquitoes work for Satan

--you stop tipping the limpiabotas (shoe-shiner kids)

--you talk with the "p" after every syllable and cut off the "s" at the end of words

Mi amigos,  I have experienced almost everything listed above and I realize that now that I'm away from the D.R. I must return there because I love and miss it immensely.
