A'me, Tal A'me (ah-MAY) -- One of the two largest Talian states; the one with the best diplomatic relations with Terra and Taya. A federation of several Talian races. Artemis Project, The -- The first successful colonization of Luna (the moon) Be'dat (bay-DAHT) -- Talian swear word; a favorite of Ral Tsano. A combination of the Talian words bea, meaning alien, and datu, meaning illegitimate. Drifterism -- A doctrine of thought based on dissatisfaction with one's own culture causing one to seek new cultures to merge with their own and thus improve their culture. See also Nian First Wave and Pan Mya Te. E'ken -- First Talian race to achieve warp drive. Extinct as an independent culture. Their descendents are members of both the Tal E'r'n and Tal A'me. Era of Isolation -- First seventy-five year period of Modern Talian history. Started with the achievment of warp drive by the Tal E'ken and ended by first contact with the Kaynir. Period marked by no contact with non-Talian races. See also Pre-Alien Era and E'ken. E'r'n, Tal E'r'n (ay-REN or ay-RIN) -- One of the two largest Talian states; the one with the worst diplomatic relations with Terra and Taya. A federation of several Talian races. i'Pan Mya (EE-pahn MY-ah) -- A Taya religion born out of the introduction of Taya to Talian space. Based on ancient Tayan prophecy blended with modern morality. Kaynir (kay-NEAR) -- Warp capable avian alien race. Shares borders with Terra, Taya, and Tal A'me. Ni (NEE) -- Worst possible talian insult. No English equivalent. Paka (PAH-kah) -- 1) Talian for spot; 2) Talian traditional design (see picture). Pan Mya Te (PAHN MY-ah TAY) -- Another name for the drifterism religion of the Nian First Wave, a religion mixing human culture with i'Pan Mya. A revived, but more extremist, version of this original movement of the same name is led by Ral Tsano and Josh Cullman. Pawa (PAH-wah) -- Large reptilian quadraped native to Taya. Cow-like herbivore. Pre-Alien Era -- See Era of Isolation. Talian, Tal i'n -- Talian is the human spelling, Tal 'in is the Talian spelling. See Aliens. Taya -- See Aliens, under "What is a Tayan?"
