The Animals

Currently, we have eight Nubian (a breed raised primarily for milking) goats including: one male (buck), Coco, seven females (does) Sunny, Harley, Gretel, Tikkun, Gracey, and two doelings.

Because of the warm tropical climate our does are able to give birth twice a year (unlike on the mainland where they only go into heat once a year). We have a lot of love for our animals, and we are deligent in assessing good homes for babies. It is difficult to find good homes that protect goats from theft (free meat) and dog attacks, and have good protection from the wind and rain.

We also have 40+ chickens (and an additional 20 chicks which hatched in July), two geese, thirteen ducks, and two dogs, a black Rottweiler named Miki and a Belgian Shepherd puppy named Zoe.

Mr. and Mrs. Goose are just about the best security system we could have on the land. If anyone comes within earshot of them... HONK! HONK! HONK!

Here is Mama duck protecting her nest of 12 eggs.

Baby chicks about two weeks after hatching.

This is our Rottweiler, Miki. He is 12 years old now and pretty much sleeps in the house all day and comes out to bark if Zoe alerts him or to go to the bathroom. We hope to get at picture of Zoe up soon, she is beautiful!

Goats on Parade!
The does returning from pasture. Sunny is all the way in the back; she is 13 years old now and she is retired from getting pregnant and milking although she still wants to and goes into heat with all the other does. It would be hard on her body to maintain the high nutritional demands with many missing teeth in the front of her mouth that she has lost the past year. Her body weight isn't high enough to support her good health with the demands of pregnancy and lactation.
