I got this letter from Geocities. Sorry for any inconveniences it might cause.

Dear GeoCities Member,

Congratulations, http://www.oocities.org/v22n seems to be very popular and has been receiving a large amount of traffic. Our records indicate that you're using more than the allotted amount of data transfer we provide for a free web site, which is 3 gigabytes per month (measured on an hourly basis). That means that during the past few days we had to temporarily turn your site off to keep the
bandwidth within this limit.
......

Our servers will continue to monitor your site's data usage and turn it off if it exceeds the limits.

Thank you,
Yahoo! GeoCities

KHÔNG ĐỂ MỘT LÀN HƯƠNG TRONG GÍO

Sáng nay phố buồn mây vẫn bay
Giận người sao nở vội chia tay
Không để một làn hương trong gío
Cho gã tình si hụt hẫng tay

Có phải quay quắt cùng ánh mắt
Nên quên ngày mất hẵn em rồi
Cái nhìn đăm đắm trong trí óc
Sao mà nhớ quá, hởi em ơi!

Vài suy tư khi viết Chuyến Tàu Đêm Năm Cũ

Chuyến Tàu Đêm Năm Cũ was written based on the thoughts below:

"Some people come into our lives and quickly go.
Some people become friends and stay awhile...
 leaving beautiful
                            footprints on our
                                                         hearts..."

Just in case you're wondering

I was born in an ocean village. Back then, my Daddy was so in love with the ocean so he decided to name me Vuong Vi Hai. And that was what started my childhood years.
Some time later on, my Mom said: "No! no! I really need a kind and nice person around here. I want this kid to be recognized as Vuong Vi Nhon." And that was the beginning of my teenage years.
As time went on, one day I suddenly found out that this British guy that used to play a spy in this 007 movie was eventually my wife's favorite model. Of course, I got to change my name to James.....Wang (still Wang, not Bond yet), I didn't want to upset my ancestors . Now, that was when I walked through my twenties.
In recent days, my kid complained about "James Wang" sounding too Chinese while I was writing something in Vietnamese. " How about Duy Son?" I said "I wouldn't be mistaken as a Chinese if I add Nguyen to my last name". At the time I was picking this nick name, I didn't actually realize the consequences of my actions. Now as the result, I always need to explain this every time I need to  e-mailing somebody. The questions like: "Who is Son Nguyen?" or "Do I know him?".
So, here it is, whatever they are, all of the names above refer to the same short, fat, ugly looking bookworm, with oversized glasses, that never shaves, and always talks with his mouth full  ;-)

       A few words about tradition

Sometimes, I really admire our Chinese traditions. No matter where we settle in the world, they always come along our side. Let's take an example, every time we walk into somebody else's house, we have to take off our shoes, right? My foreigner-friends never get it. They just step right on the carpet. Well, "nhap gia tuy tuc", now is my turn to put a little request for entering this site, you know, kind of like the little text-box called "License Agreement" that you never actually read it but you got to click on the Agree Button every time you install a new software, otherwise it'll leave you right out in the cold.

First...

1. Set aside the mind of an uptight day-trader.
2. Go ahead, turn off the cooking oven that is still on now..
3. Let's take a ten minute break from baby-sitting the kids.
4. Common, relax from that 2:00 PM do-or-die meeting with the big boss.
5. Postpone the afternoon dentist's appointment until sometime later. (You hate it anyway)

Now, you are ready to really enjoy this site...

       Chút Kỷ Niệm Buồn

You probably notice by now that the song I play on the entrance of this site is "Chút Kỷ Niệm Buồn". Southern California was soaked the last couple of weeks (2/2001) by a series of storms that kept  coming this way, in case you are interested in "mưa", here are the lyrics for the song:

Chiều nao anh với em
Nép bên thềm mưa hai đứa xem
Dù đôi ta mới quen,
Chút kỷ niệm nhưng anh khó quên

Ngồi bên nhau trú mưa,
Biết em về không ai đón đưa
Đường xa trơn lối thưa,
Chúng ta cùng đi chung dưới mưa

Rồi từ khi chia tay,
Biết bao lần gió mưa trở lại
Chỉ mình anh nơi đây,
Ngóng trông hoài một bóng hình ai

Chiều mùa thu mưa bay
Buồn này em đâu hay ,
Tình nồng lên men cay
Để anh ôm ấp giấc mơ u hoài

Chiều nay không có em,
Gió mưa về nghe thương nhớ thêm
Làm sao anh biết tên ?
Chút kỷ niệm sao em nỡ quên !

Đuờng xa đâu quá xa,
Cớ sao từ lâu em chẳng qua ?
Để anh nghe xót xa ,
Mối duyên tình của hai chúng ta

NGÀY MƯA THÂN ÁI

       Vong Co

Thanks N.X. for the piece of Cai Luong below, probably not many friends knowing this, but singing Vong Co is actually one of my... secret weapon.

_ "That dang khen, dang khen. Quan dau? Dem cho ta mot nang cung nu tuyet dep tua nhu Buc Tuong kia, de ta bieu tang cho chang thi si da tai kia day nha!".
_ "Bam tau Thanh Thuong, than day xin doi on thanh thuong, xin Ngai cho than mot thoi gian de chuan bi, than xin cam on su hao y cua Ngai".

       Kind Stuffs

Thanks for the encouraging comments

Congratulation !  Good job, James............. continue..
K. and C.

I felt good to learn that you are also a christian. Not many of our friends turn to God after experencing years of hardship. So we are the chosen one and be encouraged by that. Brother,be strong and couragous.
I have visited your web site and I have my two cents suggestion. Wouldn't be nice if we could read the vietnamese directly without proper translation?
Cheers, V. L.

I always make time to visit your web. I love to read the Chinese version of your writings; they are so lovely and romantic. The Vietnamese version give me big headaches to read; my computer can't read it (cac mau tu co dau se bien thanh cac o vuong, kho ma doan duoc cho nhanh.) It takes so long to read, (nhieu khi doan sai chu, phien qua !) and if Vietnamese version without "dau" thi "doc chet nguoi". You better do something to satisfy your visitors. (noi choi thoi nhe, dung buon.) In my mind, I never think of you are "KS", I always think you should be a great writer. (Van Si, Thi Si hay Triet hoc gia.) I wish I am a song writer who can "pho tho thanh nhac" all your Poems. (nhung tiec qua !, minh chua phai la Nhac Si.) Any way I would like to see more positive writing in the nearer future. (Qua khu, ky niem dep minh giu mai trong long, nhung ma cai hien huu, tuong lai cang tot dep hon minh phai huong di ma don lay no.) Therefore, can you promise your visitors' request to write something happy, romantic and funny in the past and present. (I know you can do it.) I hope you don't mind my little suggestion about the song in the Chinese Version. I think it better off to put Chinese's song in there, such as "Quan xui chua nung quy qui" the famous song in the 70'of Dang le Quan. Do you remember it?

       Nice Stuffs

Something definitely makes me look at myself real hard in the mirror and really think about it.

1. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
2. Memorize your favorite poem.
3. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
4. When you say, "I love you", mean it.
5. When you say, "I'm sorry", look the person in the eye.
6. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
7. Believe in love at first sight.
8. Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.
9. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
10. In disagreements, fight fairly. No name-calling.
11. Don't judge people by their relatives.
12. Talk slowly but think quickly.
13. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"
14. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
15. Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.
16. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
17. Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; Responsibility for all your actions.
18. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
19. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
20. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
21. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.
22. Spend some time alone.
23. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
24. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
25. Read more books and watch less TV.
26. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll get to enjoy it a second time.
27. Trust in God but lock your car.
28. A loving atmosphere in your home is so important. Do all you can to create a tranquil harmonious home.
29. In disagreements with loved ones deal with the current situation. Don't bring up the past.
30. Read between the lines.
31. Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.
32. Be gentle with the earth.
33. Pray. There's immeasurable power in it.
34. Never interrupt when you are being flattered.
35. Mind your own business.
36. Don't trust a man/woman who doesn't close his/her eyes when you kiss.
37. Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.
38. If you make a lot of money, put it to use helping others while you are living. That is wealth's greatest satisfaction.
39. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a stroke of luck.
40. Learn the rules then break some.
41. Remember that the best relationship is one where your love for each other is greater than your need for each other.
42. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
43. Remember that your character is your destiny.
44. Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.

The lovely messages for all of you

If you are a Christian, I would LIKE to share these with you, but if you have not become a Christian yet, I would still LOVE to share these with you.

I asked God to send me His friends....He sent you.
I asked God to take away my pain. God said, No. It is not for me to take away, but for you to give it up.
I asked God to make my handicapped child whole. God said, No. His spirit was whole, his body is only temporary.
I asked God to grant me patience. God said, No. Patience is a by-product of tribulations; it isn't granted, it is earned.
I asked God to give me happiness. God said, No. I give you blessings. Happiness is up to you.
I asked God to spare me pain.  God said, No. Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares and brings you closer to me.
I asked God to make my spirit grow. God said, No. You must grow on your own, but I will prune you to make you fruitful.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. God said, No. I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.
I asked God to help me LOVE others as much as He loves me. God said...Ahhhh, finally! ! ! You have the idea.

       What is God like?

God is a little like General Electric. He lights your path.
God is a little like Bayer Aspirin. He works wonders.
God is a little like Hallmark Cards. He cared enough to send the very best.
God is a little like Tide. He gets out the stains that others leave behind.
God is a little like Alberto VO-5 Hair Spray. He holds through all kinds of weather.
God is a little like Dial Soap. Aren't you glad you know Him? Don't you wish everyone did?
God is a little like Sears. He has everything.
God is a little like Alka Seltzer. Oh, what a relief He is!
God is a little like Scotch Tape. You can't see Him but you know He's there!
God is a little like The Copper Top Battery. Nothing can outlast Him.
God is a little like the Energizer Bunny. He just keeps going and going and going........
God is a little like American Express. Don't leave home without Him!

       Something about you

1. At least five people in this world love you so much they would die for you.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't like you.
5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. Without you, someone may not be living, never mind alive.
8. You are special and unique in your own way, and you are ALWAYS valuable just because you are alive.
9. Someone that you don't even know exists, loves you.
10. When you think you've made the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
11. When you think the world has turned it's back on you, take another look - you most likely turned your back on the world.
12. When you think you have no chance at getting what you want, you probably won't get it. But, if you believe in yourself, you probably, sooner or later, WILL get it. Just be careful WHAT you pray for....
13. Always remember compliments you receive and forget about the rude remarks. (Refer back to No. 3....)
14. Always tell someone how you feel about them. You will feel much better when you know that THEY know.
15. If you have a great friend, take the time to let them know that they are great.

I asked God for a friend, He gave me YOU

I asked God for water, He gave me an ocean.
I asked God for a flower, He gave me a garden.
I asked God for a tree, He gave me a forest.
I asked God for a friend, He gave me YOU.

Love's not love till you give it away

Bell's not bell till you ring it
Song's not song till you sing it
Love in your heart is not put there to stay
Love's not love till you give it away

       I've learned....Words of Wisdom

If you will take the time to read these, I promise you'll come away with an enlightened perspective. The subjects covered affect us all on a daily basis! They're written by Andy Rooney a man who has the gift of saying so much with so few words. Enjoy........

I've learned....That the best classroom in the world is at the feet of an elderly person.
I've learned....That when you're in love, it shows.
I've learned ...That just one person saying to me, "You've made my day!" makes my day.
I've learned....That having a child fall asleep in your arms is one of the most peaceful feelings in the world.
I've learned....That being kind is more important than being right.
I've learned....That you should never say no to a gift from a child.
I've learned....That I can always pray for someone when I don't have the strength to help him in some other way.
I've learned....That no matter how serious your life requires you to be, everyone needs a friend to act goofy with.
I've learned....That sometimes all a person needs is a hand to hold and a heart to understand.
I've learned....That simple walks with my father around the block on summer nights when I was a child did wonders for me as an adult.
I've learned....That life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.
I've learned....That we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.
I've learned....That money doesn't buy class.
I've learned....That it's those small daily happenings that make life so spectacular.
I've learned....That under everyone's hard shell is someone who wants to be appreciated and loved.
I've learned....That the Lord didn't do it all in one day. What makes me think I can?
I've learned....That to ignore the facts does not change the facts.
I've learned....That when you plan to get even with someone, you are only letting that person continue to hurt you.
I've learned....That love, not time, heals all wounds.
I've learned....That the easiest way for me to grow as a person is to surround myself with people smarter than I am.
I've learned....That everyone you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.
I've learned....That there's nothing sweeter than sleeping with your babies and feeling their breath on your cheeks.
I've learned....That no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.
I've learned....That life is tough, but I'm tougher.
I've learned....That opportunities are never lost; someone will take the ones you miss.
I've learned....That when you harbor bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.
I've learned....That I wish I could have told my Mom that I love her one more time before she passed away.
I've learned....That one should keep his words both soft and tender, because tomorrow he may have to eat them.
I've learned....That a smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
I've learned....That I can't choose how I feel, but I can choose what I do about it.
I've learned....That when your newly born grandchild holds your little finger in his little fist, that you're hooked for life.
I've learned....That everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it.
I've learned ...That it is best to give advice in only two circumstances; when it is requested and when it is a life threatening situation.
I've learned....That the less time I have to work with, the more things I get done.

      The Power of GOD

Have you ever been down and out and nobody seems to be around for you to talk to...THAT'S GOD...he wants you to talk to him.
Have you ever been just sitting there and all of a sudden you feel like doing something nice for someone you care for...THAT'S GOD...he talks to you through the Holy Spirit.
Have you ever been thinking about somebody that you haven't seen in a long time and then next thing you know you see them or receive a phone call from them...THAT'S GOD...there is no such thing as "coincidence."
Have you ever received something wonderful that you didn't even ask for, like money in the mail, a debt that had mysteriously been cleared, or a coupon to a department store where you had just seen something you wanted, but couldn't afford...THAT'S GOD...he knows the desires of your heart...
Have you ever been in a situation and you had no clue how it is going to get better, but now you look back on it...THAT'S GOD... he passes us through tribulation to see a brighter day...

       Happy thoughts

Do this slowly and really think about it! Take a few minutes and read these. Think about them one at a time BEFORE going on to the next one......... IT DOES MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD especially the thought at the end.

Falling in love.

Accidentally overhearing someone say something nice about you.
Waking up and realizing you still have a few hours left to sleep.
Making new friends or spending time with old ones.

Road trips with friends.
Swinging on swings.
Wrapping presents under the Christmas tree while eating cookies and drinking eggnog.

I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet whenever our wings have trouble remembering how to fly...

       Something to think about

Read Slowly & Think About Each Sentence

1) Love starts with a smile, grows into a kiss, and ends with a tear.|
2) Don't cry over anyone who won't cry over you.
3) If love is not a game, why are there so many players?

5) You can only go as far as you push.
6) Actions speak louder than words.
7) The hardest thing to do is watch the one you love, love somebody else.
8) Don't let the past hold you back, you're missing the good stuff.
9) Life's short. If you don't look around once in a while you might miss it.
10) A best friend is like a four leaf clover, hard to find, and lucky to have.
11) Some people make the world special just by being in it.
12) Best friends are the siblings God forgot to give us.
13) When it hurts to look back, and you're scared to look ahead, you can look beside you and your best friend will be there.
14) True friendship never ends.
15) Friends are forever.
16) Good friends are like stars...You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.
17) Don't frown. You never know who is falling in love with your smile.
18) What do you do when the only person who can make you stop crying is the person who made you cry?
19) Nobody is perfect until you fall in love with them.
20) Everything is okay in the end. If it's not okay, then it's not the end.
21) Most people walk in and out of your life, but only friends leave footprints in your heart.

Send this on to everybody special in your life, even those people who really make you mad sometimes and to the people whose lives you want to be in! Always remember that every minute spent angry is sixty seconds of happiness wasted.
