History

More than two decades ago , a mixed choir used to sing during the Sunday afternoon masses in the Good Shepherd Parish Church. They called themselves thePax Et Bonum Choir. The group was among the first youth choirs formed to sing in the old church located at the corner of Regalado and Fairview Avenues in Quezon City. Since soirees and other similar social gatherings were not that popular among the teens in the late 70's until early 80's , the girls and the boys parted ways. The latter , still proud of the talents given them , did not lose hope , hence , formed a choral group of their own. The boys persevered in practicing until they found themselves singing again in their beloved church during the Sunday evening masses. The choir was neither too big nor too small for a choral group. The usual attendance during practice and mass service averaged twelve. Thus , the Disciples Choir was born - twelve, symbolizing the number of Christ's Disciples minus the betrayer, but with Christ in their midst. Interestingly , the choir's uncanny practice and devotion continued over into the early 90's ( There was a secret , though , to keep the attendance high during practices - FOOD.) Another fact was that the talents of the choir were vastly improved under the directorhip of Ronaldo Abarquez. The cackling geese turned into cherubs with seraphic voices.

The choir does not only showcase its talent during Sunday masses. They also manage to make people listen to their joyful noise in weddings, funerals , caroling and other occasions where they are often invited. They also engage in other traditional singing activities which never fail to enliven even solemn festivities, such as Pabasa ( Holy Week) and Pangangaluluwa ( All Saints'/Souls' Day) . The Disciples Choir was touted to be the best all-male choral group in the Good Shepherd parish. ( Particularly , since there was no other choral group in the parish with the same composition.)

Aside from their angelic voices, the Disciples Choir also boasts of other church-related activities. Under the leadership of Al Marasigan ,the choir was able to sponsor a Parol-Making Contest in 1990. The term of  Edgar Lachica , five years later , was the start of the annual Libreng  Pabinyag Project of the choir. To date , It has succeeded in bringing  Christendom into the lives of dozens of new Christians of different ages from residents of Fairview as well as from other neighboring communities.

Towards the third quarter of 1996, the all-male felt something missing , seeing only people of the same gender in all their activities. The  Disciples Choir , with the guidance of their elders went back to its roots and decided to again be a mixed choir. This has proven to be a crucial decision that has served to increase the " heavenly din" only they can create.
