Another of the "cult" series of this years, Hercules grabbed a lots of fans really quick thanks to it's mix of greek myths and cool CG monsters. Even when sometimes, they kinda forgot the myth part. It's spin-off, Xena, has been in the center of the hurricane ever since it began, starting with the high levels of subtext and following with it's way of dealing with some difficult themes such as religion. It is aired in two channels here in Mexico: Channel 4 in open T.V. Sundays and Saturdays as part of their "Fantastic Weekend" slot, with Simbad and Conan. They have only aired 3 seasons of each show. USA latinamerica, which is also known as Scfi Channel, airs them at weekdays, at 4:00 and 5:00 p.m. Hercules has reached the season before the Dahak Arc, while Xena has reached the Eve arc.

    Gabrielle: "But my voice will go on,  you won't break our spirit!"

  • Aprhodite, "Ares was using his usual manipulation."(The Quill is Mightier)
  • Kevin Sorbo (Hercules), " I got stuck in traffic. After all, I'm only human." (YV, TIAH)
The cast for both Xena and Hercules is the same. Now, this might sound logical to most, but in dubbing sometimes the series can go to different companies and end up with different casts. So, Hercules and Xena fans got lucky.

Curious facts about the dubbing of Hercules and Xena:
 
  • Even when most of the cast doesn't sing, Fransisco Zambrano sang Ares part for the Bitter Suite.
  • Joxer's Song wasn't translated originally, and they only left Tim's voice. However, they had to translate it for The Bitter Suite, and had a lot of troubles with Joxer's title: "El Poderoso Joxer" (Joxer the Mighty), so in the last line, the word Macho was added, just as Joxer tripped again. It is the only episode with the song in spanish
  • Iolaus' deaths were also taken as a joke around the cast. After the third one, when they informed Alfonso Obregon that they would have to find a new character for him, he just laughed and told them to wait. He was right. Iolaus returned after three episodes.
  • Hercules has had 3 dubbing directors. The third one also directs Xena. Is Fransisco Zambrano, Ares' voice (Finally, the God of War controls the heroes :))
  • Pepe Toño Macias, Strife, likes to do mischivieous characters, but has also done quite a lot of dramatic roles such as Leonardo DiCaprio's Jack in Titanic.
