Your Music Magazine - Review for "An Empty Vee Collection"
If your into poppy new age punk this CD is not for you. Forty minutes long, this 13 song compilation CD produced by Durge Records is definitely worth picking up. It's fast paced thrash metal/hardcore punk CD not intended for mild mannered MTV listeners. All the bands are from the Central Coast, including one of the my favorite local bands "Los Dryheavers." This band rocks it hard and are one of the most fun to see live. "Full Throttle," in my opinion, had the best track on the CD, titled Evolution. This band hits with a heart pumping drive that will knock you down if you're not careful. It sounds like a cross between Rage Against the Machine and some old school Metallica. "Entragian" ends the CD with their song Step Up, which is exactly what I felt like doing after the song. Getting up and breaking something. This is definitely another one of my favorite songs on the album. I didn't like every song on there but seriously, how many CD's can you pick up and like every song (besides Bad Religion)? Not many for me anyways. Durge Records put it best on the inside cover "...as a result, the recordings provided vary greatly in sound and production quality so f@#! off if you don't like it." The CD itself would be of value in your CD collection, so go to Streetlight music and pick up your very own copy of this Central Coast compilation. -Jake Whitelaw
