Wicca - Celebrations - Craft Names
Often times, Wiccans pick Craft Names, it is often common to pick these names during dedication or initiation. Some Wiccans even have three names. One is a personal name that only the Lady and Lord know about. The other is a semi-personal one which they use if they are in a coven. The third is a public name.

Often times, a name will just come to you. It's difficult to explain how this happens. Suddenly, you see an object or a word or a name and you go "that's it!" You might already have thought of a name that you like, one that you have always liked. Often times, people combine several words together to form a name. For instance, take the famous Wiccan author Silver RavenWolf. However, I think that "Silver," "Raven," and "Wolf" are overused. Take a name that not only sounds pretty but also means something to you. It doesn't even have to be a word, picking a name has no rules(I'd argue that nothing really has any rules but I won't go there). You can pick the name Lulokadahe if you want(I have no idea where that came from, I just typed random letters so don't ask!).

My public Craft Name is Charisma LynxOwl or just LynxOwl. It's not too uncommon. Although I doubt that anyone has that name exactly, the parts of that name have been used(especially owl). I have yet to decide on my personal name. If you can't think of a name, that's fine, it isn't something that needs to be rushed.

names links on my links page. However, those are mainly links to just name sites, not craft names. I think the most common name is "SilverMoon" for Wiccans, so if I were you, I would stay away from that unless you truly feel it is you.

Often times, names are picked using colors, nature and animals. For instance, Black Panther. If you want to be really original, stay away from those categories as too many names carry that tone. However, as I said previously, if something sticks to you in those categories, go with it!

Buckland also suggest that you should use numerology when picking a craft name that matches your birth name. He uses the following chart

For instance, if your name is Lisa, your number would be
3 + 9 + 1 + 1 = 14         1 + 4 = 5
So you might want to pick a name that also adds up to 5.
You can also pick a name from your birth number. For instance, if you were born on March 5, 1983, your birth number would be:
3 + 5 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 3 = 29    2 + 9 = 11   1 + 1=2   So 2 would be your number

However, I don't find that extremely necessary, pick any name that suits you.

You don't have to pick a name that has something to do with your heritage. I'd advise you to browse these links and pick a name that speaks to you, and forget the rest of the rules :)
