My name is Margaret W. Troutman, I was born in Abbeville,Georgia, a small town in Wilcox County. I was the fith child born to my father and mother, Wilbert and Mary Ann Williams. I have five sisters and four brothers. I started to school at the age of six years old. I attended grade school at Abbeville Elementary School, I went on to Exceelsior High School for three years. The school system integrated.
I finished high school, and went to work at Fitzgerald Underwear Incorporated. I worked there for five years. I left there and went to work at the Abbeville Nursing Home. I worked there for eight years, and from there to Shaw Incorporated for a year . I felt as if I hadn't worked so hard in my life. After my job at Shaw I went to work at the Wilcox County Head Start. I have been working for this for the Head Start for 15 years. I was married at an early age. I five children, four daugthers and one son. After eighteen years of marriage my husband filed for a divorce. I was left alone to raise the children. It was hard raising five children, but I made it. All my children are grown and out on their own, except for my baby girl.
Stacey and I are enjoying our time together. We are going to school. She is in high school and I am going to night school. She will be finishing high school in 2003, and 2003. I plan to be finish with my degree in 2004.
