Vapours
"What is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time and then vanisheth away." (James 4:14)
Why must this be?
I scratch and dig at the marble floor called IMMORTALITY
But I can make no impression.
Time is fleet and I am slow.
Death stalks forever...
Why must we die?
I cannot bear it!
Darkness and obscurity.
No one to remember...forgotten...
Darkness, darkness,
No thought, no light,
And Death's dread hand upon me,
If there is a God, SAVE ME!
I am drowning.
Every moment I live I also die,
Not long ago I was born,
Shortly I will be not.
How do people bear it?
How do we, vapours all,
Live each and every day with the stamp of decay upon us?
How do people face death so calmly?
I cannot be calm.
I cannot bear this.
I want to live, I do not want death!
But I cannot escape.
None of us can.
