This meeting was to have guest speaker, Imelda Rivers from Country Arts SA however due to illness she was
forced to cancel at the last minute. She sent her utmost appologies. Imelda will now appear at the April meeting on the 26th.
Group President Judy Fergurson, Vice President John Spencer and Secretary Marjorie Macrae were also unable to
attend. Julia Mannix took over chairing the meeting with everything running smoothly.
Points of disscussion included:
- No further updates on the status of the Gawler Courthouse. Presently the building is up for sale and is
awaiting any expressions of interest by other state government bodies before being offered for sale to the Gawler Council.
- Certificates of Appreciation were given out to all sponsors of our first Art and Craft Exhibition held in
December 2000. All sponsors were thankful for the recognition with the Gawler Arms being particularly interested in sponsoring future events.
- It was suggested by Norm Neilson that we ensure the group gets listed in the next edition of councils
'Gawler Information and Business Directory' publication. This will be followed up.
- A number of events are being held by various councils and community groups throughout 2001. We have
committed ourselves to a presence at the following events:
- The Vintage Festival, Sepplesfield, 15th April
A stall has been booked and several artists present at this meeting committed themselves to co-ordinating our
presence there
- Trinity College Art Auction, Function Room Cafe Nova 23-25th May, 2001
Our group has been invited to submit works to this event.
Artist's wishing to have their works considered for
inclussion must bring their art to our April monthly meeting on the 26th. Representatives from Trinity college will be presents to select works for inclussion.
Works should be labeled with the following information: Title, Measurements (cm), Reserve Price. If possible the artist should include a resume.
Exhibition
opens on the 23rd May for viewing with the auction being held on the 25th May from 7:30pm.

- Gawler Council's, Centenary of Federation Celebrations, Pioneer Park, November, 3,4 and 5, 2001
Julia Mannix made a tentative booking of the upstairs room at the Gawler Tourist Information Centre. It is
intended we hold and exhibition in this room and have a stall in Pioneer Park to draw attention to the exhibit. A grant application has been made to council for
funding of $1000 for this exhibition. Note that part of the condition of the application is that the exhibition must be themed on the centenary of federation.
- David Arandle has produced a general brochure promoting the group which will be distributed at the above
mentioned events.
