The goal of EAA'sYoung Eagles Program is to provide 1 million young people ages 8 through 17 with a free introductory airplane ride by the year 2003:The 100th year anniversary of the Wright Brothers first flight at Kitty Hawk,N.C. and the 50th anniversary of the founding of EAA. These rides are provided through the generosity of volunteer EAA pilots and members of other authorized aviation organizations.

After their flight, each participant takes home a Young Eagles certificate bearing the signature of Chuck Yeager, the first man to fly an airplane faster than the speed of sound.

"They also get their name added to the National Young Eagles Internet Logbook The Young Eagles Logbook is the worlds largest online logbook. This home page tells who their pilot was and the type of aircraft they flew in and date of flight.

The world of flight has an exciting new way to reach young people as of Tuesday evening, July 28,1998 when the brand new Young Eagles website -youngeagles.com- went live on the World Wide Web.
