u r M i s s i o n
The
mission of Farwell Area Schools is to provide every student
the opportunity to experience being a part of a quality
music education program. This program will introduce the
student to a wide variety of experiences in performance
opportunities and literature. These classes will focus on
participation in performances of a wide venue as well as
producing students that understand the music they are
creating.
O
u r H i s t o r y
Our
school has had a bit of an up and down path with directors.
When Mr. Shimmons came he was the 6th band teacher the
seniors that year had been under the direction of! Mr.
Shimmons is now in his 6th year here at Farwell. The high
school band has grown from 38-40 to 58-60. The middle school
groups are once again producing desirable sounds and all
total we now have around 250 students in the instrumental
music program 5-12! This year the 5th grade beginning band
sign up numbers were beyond any in recent history. There are
so many that the administration made a great decision - They
decided to break the 5th grade into two groups and give them
band on alternating days. This is obviously an educationally
sound decision. Farwell has constantly taken Division one
and two ratings at both Concert and Marching Festivals for
many years. That trend is obviously continuing.
