High School Groups
Includes the Symphonic Band, the Marching Band and the
Jazz Combo. The Marching Band is an active group every Fall
and late Spring. We play at 4-6 football games (most home
and at least one away), participate in an invitational and
also our MSBOA Marching Band Festival. We also march in the
annual Farwell Labor Day Parade and the Farwell Eagle
Homecoming Parade. Last year we also traveled to Mount
Pleasant for their Mardi Gras Celebration. In the Spring we
marched for the Memorial Day Parade in Farwell. We have also
participated in the largest Memorial Day Parade in Michigan,
the Mackinaw City Memorial Day Celebration.
Rehearsals are during our normal class time during the
school day as well as every Monday evening from 6:30 p.m. to
9:00 p.m. every week during marching season. Before school
starts every year the entire Marching Eagles travel to an
away Marching Band Camp. At this camp we spend from Monday
morning to Friday evening working on our Show for that year.
This is an intense week as the students and staff put in 9.5
plus hours a day working music and drill. There is always
time for fun and relaxation though. Last year the Marching
Eagles Band Camp was at Covenant Hills. Previous years camps
have been held at the Kettunen Center near Cadillac as well
as Gillman Springs near Gladwin.
