Instrument
Repair and Service
Instruments
need to be repaired on a regular basis. Here is the process to go
through. Sometimes the instrument can be repaired by Mr. Shimmons
if it is a simple problem. Sometimes Mr. Manley will be able to
fix it at his house and sometimes the instrument goes to the
repair shop. PARENTS should NEVER try to fix instruments by them
selves. I have had students bring me their instruments in pieces
after "Dad" tried to fix it the night before. I've even had a
parent melt their students instrument! Here's what to do;
- Have
your student let Mr. Shimmons know immediately of the
problem
- He
will then look at it and decide if it needs to be sent
in.
- If
it does need to be sent in then your student will bring home a
repair slip to be filled out and returned with the instrument
after following the steps below.
When
your student lets you know that their instrument needs to be sent
in to the repair shop you need to follow several steps to make
sure that it gets repaired in a competent manner.
- Do Not
take it to Cooks Music
- If you
are still renting the instrument
- you
will probably have an insurance as a part of your
contract
- have
the company you are renting through fix the
instrument
- Call
Herter Music or Marshall Music to let them know you will be
sending in the instrument
- Arrange
for a loaner instrument, if possible during this time
- Have
the repair form and instrument to Mr. Shimmons the day before it
is to be picked up.
- Repairs
usually take one - two weeks to return to the school
