For those who know and those who don't I have been fortunate to be a part of a project called "STONEWALK". On July 4th of 1999 a core group of six people, including thousands of people along the way, pushed a 2000 lb. memorial stone for "Unknown Civilians Killed In War" 500 miles. The trip from Sherborn, Massachusetts to Washington, D.C. was to raise awareness for all the innocent victims killed in 'all' wars. Since there is no civilian monument or memorial anywhere in the United States, our intent was to have the stone erected in Arlington National Cemetery. Upon the arrival into Washington on August 6th the stone was rejected and sits now on the grounds at Georgetown University. Since the stone was rejected Lewis and Meg Randa, who run the Peace Abbey in Sherborn, have decided to walk the stone in every country that civilians have died in. I, being a core member agree and our first country is Ireland in July. From July 9th in Belfast Ireland the core members will, with the help of the native people, push the memorial stone 125 miles to Dublin Ireland. This is the first of it's kind and will be a history making event. It is the responsibility of the core members to raise $2000.00 to cover expenses on the trip. As a peace pilgrim, I carry no money but am responsible to raise my portion of the trip. Being new at fund raising I welcome any suggestions that any of you can come up with. All monies for the trip is TAX DEDUCTIBLE and the donors names will be a part of Stonewalk history. All donations are asked to be sent to the Peace Abbey in my name so you're not sending it to me. I am asking this because I want everyone to be involved but if I have to work to support the trip myself I WILL. So as of today, I officially stop my walk to D.C. to raise the funds. As many of my brothers and sister on the streets hold signs I will present mine that says, "Will work for Ireland". (speaking figuratively) I thank you all for your prayers, support and encouragement and I know that this mission will be accomplished somehow. If my leg can be reattached then I know together we can accomplish this mission. God is on my side and I still believe in "of the people, by the people and for the people." I would love to have 2000 people donate a dollar because there is power in numbers but however it happens will be up to GOD! Help me represent the United States in Ireland this summer. God bless you all and namaste' Waiting to hear your replies... Peacemaker!email: earlthepm@yahoo.com HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY TO ALL WHO HAVE SERVED...PEACE! |
