May 18, 2000 - Freeport, Texas

Greetings from Freeport, TX.,

Monument Stone

Walking for theMonument for Unknown Civillians Killed in War

Before I begin I just want to apologize to a few people who have accused me or 'stealing their friends name' on the internet. I am sorry but in order for me to fulfill my commitment in placing the stone for "Unknown Civilians Killed In War" in Arlington I must be able to contact everyone at least once. This project means so much to me that I may be guilty of meeting new people, whose names I remind you, were sent to me. I did nothing but acquire names to inform them about this special project that includes all of us, Americans. Fortunately of the new people's names I have supposedly stolen, they are very happy to know that this stone exists and would like to help. If you don't want to help and continue to ignore the fact that innocent people are dying daily as a result of war, then I say God bless you and I will not bother you again. I will remove your name of my list. For those who are interested and want to help I say God bless you and thanks for you support. I believe the innocent victims, our brothers and sisters, need our help and our voices.

To my new friends, I say hello my birth name is Earl J. Standberry II, God have blessed me with the name of Peacemaker and I am a pilgrim for peace. A pilgrim is a wanderer with a purpose and my purpose is inner peace and that is why I am a Peace Pilgrim. I am currently walking from the "Tournament of Roses Parade" in Pasadena California to the our nation's White House in Washington D.C. I am trying to raise the
public's attention for a project called "STONEWALK".  I started Jan. 1st 2000 from California and am currently in Freeport, TX where a reception and press conference has been arranged by a lovely newspaper owner in Freeport Texas. I am carrying a small replica memorial stone for "Unknown Civilians Killed in War". The full length 2000 lb. stone was pushed and pulled by myself and thousands of people last summer from Sherborn, Mass to Washington, D.C. The stone was created by the beautiful people at the Peace Abbey and Life! Experience School in Sherborn Ma. This stone represents the millions and millions of innocent people like you and I who were killed simply by being in the wrong place at the wrong time...their homes. This represents all wars both foreign and domestic, the ' war on drugs ' where innocent people die daily, gang violence ,etc., This memorial is for all of us to accept the past and move peacefully towards the future together. This memorial stone was offered as a gift to our nation and hoped to be placed in Arlington National Cemetery by the tomb for the "Unknown Soldier". However after 500 miles in the soaring heat, pushing and pulling through MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ, PA, MD and Virginia, THE STONE WAS REJECTED! There is NO civilian monument in the United States anywhere, help us make history entering into the new millennium. I know you all are saying, "Peacemaker, I want to help, but how"? The stone can be placed in Arlington but only by an 'act of congress'. All I am asking is that you find out more about "Stonewalk" though my website or from the Peace Abbey in Sherborn Mass.  I believe this country is still of  the people, by the people and for the people and we as a people can vote the stone in by contacting your Congressman/person or House of Representatives or the Senate. I get tired of hearing that the government runs our lives, we pay their salaries...don't we? Help us put this stone in Arlington National Cemetery and let these souls rest in peace. My webmaster Bruce Nichols has arranged my website so you can find out your representative from any state.

Through the grace of God and caring people I have fully recovered from my near fatal train accident which happened on my first cross country pilgrimage in March of 1998. Details and pictures are available on my website as well. I WARN YOU the pictures are very, very graphic and should be viewed with adult supervision. The question I get asked most is why am I walking across the country? My answer is because I CAN, I almost lost my life and limb. I consider myself the voice of the voiceless and if I can walk a pilgrimage for the
innocent then I think everyone can write a letter for the innocent. They said I would never walk a pilgrimage again but I work for God and God says, "NEVER SAY NEVER"! The reason that I am doing this is because as a former Gulf War Marine I have seen first hand what war and destruction can do to people. I've seen the faces of the unknown children lying dead because we (as humans) want to protect material things. No one leaves earth with anything material, not even our bodies. We are here to share knowledge and wisdom and to serve one another because we are one another.

I want to truly thank Wendi Rankel-Ross, publisher of the Community Herald for inviting me to Freeport, Texas and arranging newspaper, T.V. and radio interviews. She is throwing a 'peace rally' in my honor on Saturday and arranged a meeting with the mayor of Houston and the council members on the 23rd. Things are starting to happen and I and so thankful to you all for your prayers, because they work. She runs a free, violence-free newspaper that allows hometown writers to express their talents. I am thankful that she has taken interest in my story and sharing it with all her subscribers. Please help support her as she devotes her newspaper to the positive side of life. We all can do our part for peace...who knows we could be the next civilians.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone I can while on this incredible journey, by any means necessary. Please feel free to email me let me know if I'm crazy or if you will help be a part of history. God bless America....land that I love.

Love and light to the world.....Namaste'

April 17, 2000 - Tucson, AZ

Hello everyone I wish you peace and love. This has been one of the most incredible times for me here in Tucson, I have been here since about the 12th of March and I still can't see a fraction of the beautiful people I know. The first joy brought to me in Tucson was to be able to give the love and energy to my doctor he gave to me two years to the day, hour, minute. My friend and doctor had an 'Angioplasty' performed on Mar 17th and was I standing above him on the 18th at about 9:30am. I told him it is just my Boss' way of slowing us down. So I was able to send to him the same energy he had sent to me because he was in need. What goes around comes around, I didn't make the rules, I just play my part. So many beautiful people who worked at Tucson Medical Center have been excused and to them I say thanks for the memories. I have met new people and the list continues to grow. I would like to have the opportunity to meet all of God! 's children both home and abroad. I am so looking forward to Stonewalk's trip through Ireland in July.

To my friends in Tucson I say thank you all for the wonderful love you share with me every time I visit here. If ever I had a base I would be drawn to Tucson. Unfortunately nothing is promised forever so I must finally depart feeling rejuvenated and stronger than ever to continue. One of my biggest joys was to be interviewed by two young reporters, Drew is 10 and Gail is 14. Drew writes with the "Bear Essentials News for Kids" and Gail writes for her high school paper in Flowing Wells. They are our future and I love sharing my story with the younger ones and because of them I know the stone will be placed. I also had the opportunity to speak to students at Line-Weaver Elementary in Mr. B's class. I also had the privilege to speak to Girl Scout Troop 641 thanks to Celidh and Dian. I am so thankful to KOLD-TV 13 for airing a peace story before the murders and rapes. A cool reporter I met two years ago in Yuma named Dan was working here in Tucson and I called him up. I did a news piece on a Sunday afternoon which aired that night as top story. I have never seen peace come before blood so of course I have it recorded. There is hope that one day these stories will lead the evening news channels. Thanks Dan, Som and J.P. A hearty thank you to my good friend Jill of the Daily Star and Blake at the Tucson Citizen newspapers and a true angel Sheryl at KUAT-FM for help getting the message out.

I am off to Benson and the site of the accident and then on towards El Paso. I have some people in Benson to thank. They found me at my most vulnerable point and helped calm me down. Maggie, Jean and Shelby were the three beautiful angels first on the scene and then Deputy Clark. I still haven't been able to locate the railroad worker who found me to thank him but everyday I send him love. I am not meant to leave yet so I have to continue to learn until I graduate to the next level,t hank you all for helping me.

My email list has breached the 1000 mark and I thank each and everyone of you all who write. My cuz from California has taught me how to send out updates using Bcc so please bear with me. I would love to see Washington overflowing with you letters and emails. Let them know that 'we the people' still run America and America wants to move forward by remembering the past. Through the website  my webmaster Bruce has made it easy to find your Representatives in Washington. THE VOICELESS NEED YOUR VOICES!

I am so blessed to know that there are good people everywhere and the first place you'll find one is your mirror. I send you all peace, love and light. Namaste'.

April 3, 3000  -   Tucson AZ.,

My name is Earl J. Standberry II and I am walking from Pasdena California to Washington D.C. for peace. My journey began Jan 1st from the Tournament of Roses parade just like my mentor Peace Pilgrim did in 1953.  The only difference is that I am carrying a replica stone, like the one thousands of people hand pushed to Wash D.C. from Sherborn Mass last summer. After pushing and pulling the 2000 lbs stone 500 miles in 33 days, the stone was denied entrance into Arlington National Cemetery. The memorial stone is for "Unkown Civilians Killed in War" and represents all wars. This would be the first of it's kind in the U.S.   In order for us to move forward, we must admit the past. All the innocent want is closure and they deserve our help.  We the people of this country can vote it in but we need to spread the word about "STONEWALK". In order for the memorial to be placed in Arlington National Cemetery, it must be voted in by Congress. If you believe that this memorial for "Unknown Civilians Killed in War" needs to be in ANC please write your representatives in D.C. for peace!!! My generous and gracious webmaster Bruce Nichols has design my webpage so that you can easily find out who your representatives are and send them a letter. I truly believe 'we the people' still run this country and pay their salaries. THE VOICELESS NEED OUR HELP! LET'S MAKE HISTORY TOGETHER! Just click URGENT APPEAL and scroll to the bottom of the page.

Being a Gulf War vet and former Marine I vow to remain a wanderer until Arlington National Cemetery accepts the stone where it belongs. Civilians die side by side with soldiers and I agree they should be honored together, next to the "Tomb for the Unknown Soldier". The civilian memorial won't take up too much space but will give great healing. In order to be the first country to erect a civilian memorial we need you all to write letters to Congress and the White House. We need to let our voices speak for those who can't speak any more. If you promise to write I will continue to walk so lets work together because AMERICA is still NO.1!!!

I leave you all with a letter a mom sent to her representative and she shared it with us. God bless you all and I love you!

Namaste'  (The GOD in me greets the GOD in you)

Sending you all peace, love and light!

To the house members:

I urge you to pass a motion allowing the memorial for Unknown Civilians Killed In War to find a home in Arlington National Cemetary. I was one of the many people who pushed that beautiful stone for three days and saw the people who had lost familiy members, and even veterans, come out to praise this peace effort. Please, please, please help find a home for this insightful, visionary memorial that can help us all remember the good in each of us.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Blair B.

March 26, 2000 - Tucson, AZ

Greetings from Tucson AZ.,

Hello my friends and may light shine upon you all. I love meeting God's children, we are all so unique and to watch someone change is a beautiful thing. We are all caterpillars looking to become butterflies, wanting that freedom. To see God's work manifest before your eyes is an amazing thing and I am a personal witness. Tucson is such a spiritual center for me, there is this connection since my accident that I can't explain.. This is how powerful my God is:   Two years to the day since my train accident on March 18th at approximately 9:30am, I was standing over my doctor Dr. Michael Parseghian as he was lying in a hospital bed. Angioplasty surgery was what he had had and was recovering nicely. It was so strange but rewarding to be able to send back the positive energy this man gave to me in my time of need. I am a firm believer in 'what goes around comes around', God is so good!

I love to open up my email and when someone writes that they are in the program for peace it brings a smile to my face. This week I had a quite uplifting experience I would love to share. I was contacted through the heading 'will you talk to me?'. I opened up my email and it was a short letter from a young man named Drew. The letter said that he was ten years old and wrote for a kids newspaper called "Bear Essentials News for Kids". He said he would like to interview me and I happily agreed. He informed me that his mom and sister would be joining us for a picnic, this would be too cool. Drew and I decided to meet at the public library courtyard and from there we went to the grounds of city hall. We had chicken and questions and smiles that day and his mother Amy told me what little ten year old Drew wants to be when he grew up, and it's a missionary. I am honored to know the young people (old souls) I meet who are still plugged into the light. Drew's picture has been added to the photo gallery. Thank you Drew for planting a seed of hope in my heart and in your readers. Young people are people too!!!!!

Yesterday I was invited to dinner/supper by a couple who read a news article in the Tucson Citizen and emailed me. David and Gee Gee invited me to have a day with them and what a day it turned out to be. When I used to walk by people who were in wheelchairs I used to think how sad they were but Gee Gee doesn't let that stop her. Her attitude on life was so positive and I was able to observe my peers who looked and judged like I did. David is a positive light and energy in her life and they have been married 10 years. People with, as we humans call them, 'disabilities' have a blessing but sometimes do not know what they have. Most see and look at people, those we call 'normal', as loving people who as blessed. Everyday is a blessing for me to meet you, experience a small part of your lives, all of you and I thank you for being a light to us all. I don't want to be normal again!

I believe I have made T.V. history, maybe not, but it was exciting and I have God to thank. I met a man named Dan Marries in Yuma Arizona during my first attempt at a cross country pilgrimage in 1998. He was an anchor man for KYMA and he was at the Yuma Air Show which was in February. I met him briefly and was able to record the segment when it aired. It has been two years and he is now working for Channel 13 KOLD in Tucson and we phoned each other. He wanted to do an update and I needed to get the word out so we decided to meet. Well he couldn't be there so he sent two gentlemen by the names of J.P and Som. Som was the reporter and J.P. was the 'man with the eye' cameraman and we met near a set of train tracks. J.P. got great shots and Som did a wonderful interview and history was to be made at 10:00pm. The lead story was peace and then murder, not murder..murder..rape..sports..weather and then peace. I was so shocked but thankful cause they did it with love. It was Sunday night's news cast and I have it recorded. I had the pleasure of seeing Dan for lunch last week and thanked him. He said he received a call that night after the broadcast from someone who was always complaining about the lead stories being about murders and rapes but Dan said, "Didn't you see tonight's broadcast?" and the guy said yes and hung up. I want to thank everyone at KOLD especially Dan, J.P. and Som.

The message I spread is not new and I can't claim it. My job is to be a 'walking billboard for peace'. I have been given a second chance to be a positive light to the world and I am just honored to be a small part of your lives. We need your help placing the stone for "Unknown Civilians Killed in Wars" in Arlington National Cemetery. God bless you all and I wish you all light and energy.
Namaste'

March 18, 2000 - Tucson, AZ

Greetings from Tucson AZ.,

Hello everyone.  It's Earl the Peacemaker and I am here in beautiful Tucson, Arizona. This is the place where I was put back together from my train accident. Yes, two years ago March 18th marks the 2nd Anniversary of my train accident which happened in Benson Arizona where I was flown into Tucson Medical Center. There Dr. Michael Parseghian and his team put me back together after my right leg was severed. I have a lot of people to thank here for believing in me and the cause for peace. This is a very spiritual place for me so I will be here a little longer so I can say hi to a lot of people.

I arrived in Tucson from Phoenix where these beautiful people named Rev. Debbi Brown and Rev. Marvin Brown offered me a place to stay while in Phoenix. They have a place called The Peace House in Phoenix. It is a non-denomination church in their home and I encourage everyone to check out their website listed below. Their daughter Jerrilynn invited me to speak to her class at Phoenix Advantage and a few more classes sat in. They were very nice and I enjoyed sharing my story and journey walking through their city. I received an email from one of the students that very night and I want to say hi to Adam. I want to thank everyone at the Phoenix
Advantage school for allowing me to share God's message. http://www.peacehouse.org

My friend Bruce, who updates my website often has added a photo gallery and I would love to add pictures of everyone I meet along the way. If anyone would like your pictures to be added to my website I would love for you to send pics to me at: earlthepm@yahoo.com

I would also like for you to visit Bruce Nichols' website down below, where he offers free bumperstickers and
other materials. We are all in this together. http://www.shinealight.com

March 4, 2000 - Phoenix,  Arizona

Greetings from Pheonix,Az.

Hello my brothers and sisters, I have sucessfully made it to Pheonix Az with a couple of rides.  I am beginning to see how my God is working and I am walking that path willingly. Without hitchhiking I have been offered rides from people that I was suppose to meet. If I had turned them down I wouldn't have met these people or contacts.

I am also finding out that in the spirit of Peace Pilgrim that I have a different path. She is helping to guide me through this path and if a person comes along I will accept it but only to the next town.  Freedom to choose is the greatest gift from God that I own!!!!!!

Before leaving Yuma, I was at the library checking my email for the last time when I was approached by a "snow bird" couple. They were from Michigan and visiting the warmer climates in AZ.  We started talking about life and now I have another friend in Detroit.  Leaving Yuma and walking to a little town called Tacna, I met up with a very sweet family I have known for years and stayed a few days with them.  Thank you Gina, Daniel (NEO), Stephanie and Joshua!

Leaving Tacna and walking to a very little spot on the road called Mohawk Valley Az, I was stopped by a Sheriff's Deputy. He offered me a bottle of Gatorade and asked to give me a ride to Dateland, AZ.  I accepted.  I found out that he was a former Marine retired and was all for the stone being placed in Arlington National Cemetery.   Arriving in Dateland and calling a few friends on the pay phone, I was approached by two men who were on their way to Belize in South America.  They were doing mission work and I now have contacts in California and Pennsylvania.  Came into Pheonix Thursday and met up with my very good friend "funkydivaii" who is completing truck driving school. Now my friend Bruce has introduced me to a new contact in Pheonix.   I am so blessed to keep meeting up with my friends and meeting new friends.

I will be here in Pheonix until 3/10/00 and will be heading to Tucson after that. There are a lot of media programs here and I want to try to reach as many people here in McCain's territory as possible.

I truly thank everyone for your spiritual prayers and energy and will ask that you all get plugged into the Peace Abbey. Mr. Randa is looking for $$$$$ support for the "Stonewalk" project and you all can find out more at http://www.peaceabbey.org.  I will try to raise funds through the media and a few Corporations I know along the way. I am going to plant the seed in your minds and leave it up to God to do the rest.

Thank you all for supporting the cause called PEACE!!!!

 Love and light!   Peacemaker!  earlthepm@yahoo.com
